Sorry if this was discussed previously.

$45.6 million is how much Mike Anderson is suing St Johns for firing him "For Cause", he alleges to avoid paying him so thye could use the funds to pay Pettino.

$11.4 Million for what's left on his contract and $34.2 for punative damages.

St John’s wanted Anderson to take less than $11.4MM (amount left on his contract) while they negotiated with Pitino for the head coach job. Anderson said “no”. Then St John’s started making accusations of Anderson for “cognitive issues” and decline of team APR to fire for cause and hire the Coach King of Scandals. St. John’s will lose this case in arbitration and wind up paying more than the $11.4 they were trying to stiff Anderson of after firing him.

I haven't been following this at all but interesting theory advanced by Anderson that his firing " for cause" was done to pay Pittino.

That’s how they do these things. Not completely the same, but we tried to find cause to rid ourselves of FHJ to free up money for the next guy. Either way, schools do everything they can to reduce their financial obligations to guys who aren’t working for them.

Anderson claims SJU was already in contract talks with Petino before he was fired. No idea if that means anything.
If true it bolsters Anderson's case. He could argue that SJU was aware of Petino's demands and had no choice but to assert they had cause for firing in order to save money for Petino's contract.

Those are some big numbers. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. I’d bet that Anderson will get more than the 11.4 he was owed.
