So you are anticipating a prominent college HC to leave his job. And then you are speculating that one of his assistants would not be retained by the next HC whoever that is. Then you are saying that he would be interested in RU and RU would presumably create an opening to hire this assistant who is not yet available, who's boss is still the HC at Florida and we don't even know if he would have interest in a job at RU.

The "HC in waiting approach" does not work. However in terms of being an assistant coach, Burno would be a very good option, if possible and assuming Donovan does leave (which is obviously not a given). The problem is that an assistant like Burno would have options. It would take $$$ and an institutional commitment to men's basketball to hire a quality assistant. Unfortunately, RU really has not shown this type of commitment to men's basketball. Maybe in the future with B1G money?

It's a no brainer. Try to recruit to Lincoln, Nebraska or ASU. Live in Nebraska or Arizona.

So much for the proverb "There is honor among thieves". Out of curiosity ... in a situation like this, do you think Hurley got the OK from Tim Miles before reaching out to Burno's agent and Burno? You have to love the "Family decision" angle -- yeah, a dysfunctional/me-first family. These types of maneuvers almost legitimize the player transfers that we see. If it's OK for coaches to leave when the situation is not the best for them, why not the players?
