Maine TE Shawn Bowman is listed at 6-5, 255 lbs and went to Howard HS in Bear, DE. He has 1 year of eligibility remaining. He entered the portal today (6/7).
Bowman only played in 8 games in 2022 but had the best season of his college career..He tallied 30 catches for 358 yards and 5 TDs in 2022. Scored a TD in 5 of 8 games. Put up 3/40 against FBS New Mexico and 3/34/1 against Boston College. Best game of the season was against Stony Brook with 6/130/1.
Bowman's graded out well on PFF, posting a grade of 77.3 in 2022 which ranked him as PFF’s 24th TE out of 452 qualifying TEs last year. He also posted an 80.9 receiving grade, which put him at 15th best for a TE in 2022.
Bowman was recruited to Maine when current Rutgers DC Joe Harasymiak was the HC there and current Rutgers LB coach Corey Hetherman was the DC there. I can confirm he recently picked up a follow from Rutgers TE coach Andy Aurich as well as a few other RU staffers on Twitter.
Bowman hasn't put out a highlight tape but I was able to find a decent amount of clips of him from the past couple seasons. Definitely isn't the fastest guy but has a massive frame and has soft hands. The staff has been looking into adding a TE (along with another OL potentially) and Bowman would definitely provide us with an upgrade at TE.
