Theresa Grentz was just named head coach at Lafayette College in Easton, PA. She joined the staff last year as an assistant. Her profile shows 33 years of experience and a total of 671 wins. Her record at RU was 434-150 where she was the first full-time women's college basketball coach in the country. She lead our 81-82 team to the AIAW national championship, and then 9 straight NCAA appearances from 1986-1994. She lead Illinois to its first Big 10 championship in 1997 and consecutive Sweet 16 appearances. Also coached the 1992 U.S. Olympic team.

She, along with CVS, is one of the real pioneers of the women's game, going back to the 1970s when women's college basketball was in its infancy. I didn't realize she was still active in the game. She was always a great promoter for RU women's bball, pushing the Christmas tournament games as "stocking stuffers" and always saying "I want it sold out!" in reference to the RAC crowds.

A bit of trivia - she won the first college game played at the RAC, when it opened in 1977, a win over SHU, in the opening game of a women's - men's doubleheader sweep of our old rivals to the north.
