Was out to eat last night in my Rutgers polo and a Gator fan (one that surprisingly cool) comes up to me and starts asking about the team this year, Schiano, etc.
Conversation eventually turns to NIL, and he kept repeating the same mantra of "Ya'lls guys are in the shadow of NYC, get some of that money into NIL"
I tried explaining the issue Rutgers has of lack of long-term success, all the pro teams in the area, people not as much into college athletics, etc.
He kept countering saying how the playing field is now essentially leveled b/c of NIL and that now programs like UF and others "can't cheat as much b/c now it's all legal"
Interesting that fans now of other teams realize the potential we have in this new world
He also asked if we had a team dedicated to reaching out to big money donors and corporations, as well as local businesses
Told him I honestly had no idea, but hope we did, or if not yet, shortly will
