Temple does not need to be in the AAC. Not the type and size of school, they may get kicked out again

I literally can't think of a school more ill equipped to handle life in the NIL era than Temple. Wait until Delaware gets cooking in FBS football. The 3rd tier NJ/DE/MD/PA kids will go there instead of Temple as UDel has better academics, FAR safer and nicer campus in Newark DE, and truly cares about athletics especially football from a fan perspective. I can honestly see them quitting football in about 5 years and going to A10 in basketball/Olympic sports.

I didnt get to read the article yet just heard on Boomer and Gio. Is this from one huge bet that the line moved or a bunch of small ones?

Listened to a podcast yesterday where this was discussed. It was a couple gambling sites lock of the day pick, because the initial line was flawed. A couple large bets and many medium and thousands of smaller bets which shifted the line.

If true it makes you wonder how prevalent this is at other schools as well. Just takes one kid to get tempted and you screw the whole team.

If it was that prevalent, these watchdog orgs would be flagging those games as well no?

I saw somewhere that suspicious betting activity has happened at least a couple times with Temple this season...

If this is gonna happen, this is the type of spot that I'd expect to see it...it's not happening on the Duke/Carolina game, on NCAA Tournament games, etc. It's gonna happen on under the radar games with a bad team playing out the string in a relatively meaningless game.

I do agree that the opening line was a little bit off (I had it at UAB -4)...but I did get sucked in and played Temple +8 (and think the game settled at 7.5 by tipoff), as that was too good of a price with no injuries in play...oops.

Exactly. The small games that very few people care about would be the targeted games to pull something like this off with.

Maybe Bill Cosby can return to being the face of the program to restore its credibility? 😀 😀 😀

Article I read said when the sportsbooks saw basically zero buy back (from "respected" big money) when it hit 8 it really put it on radar with no injury news.

I saw they got outbounded real bad and looks like played zero D. Suppose those are two easiest ways to throw game without looking like an idiot and throwing the ball out of bounds, etc. There was no particularly horrific shooting or turnover numbers from any specific player.

They've officially hit rock bottom as an AD as a whole and likely as a school. Students leaving en masse due to the rampant crime issues up in North Philly, football is an afterthought and their once proud basketball program has crumbled into nothingness.
Reading this article and others I found online, I’m not seeing an explicit accusation of point shaving.

There was an unusual point-spread change before gametime against UAB, an 18-11 team that should have been favored over 11-18 Temple by more than 1.5 points to begin with. Not a stretch to think bettors saw an opportunity to capitalize on that minuscule point spread.

Also, the final score was 100-72, well beyond the gametime spread of 8 points. Seems like an old-fashioned ass whoopin, over a Temple team that flat out sucks and had nothing to play for.
