Was thinking about this that there are plusses and minusses to the Spring

minuses -
- fanbase is used to Fall football. Spring may not have as much interest
- Seniors with a chance for the NFL may not be able to show their stuff and properly prepare for the combine
- Seniors who graduate may transfer out to play in the fall with a team who has better chances for a bowl or prepare them for the NFL
- underclassmen who want to transfer may be able to with the Spring season being the required redshirt
- out of state players who are taking remote classes this fall may decide they want to transfer closer to home
- if NJ Covid cases spike this fall / winter while other parts of the country come down it may mean limited or no football in the Spring

plusses -
- HS seniors who are able to graduate early may want to enroll in January to get the spring season in or to use it as a redshirt to play in the fall. Can help recruiting if SEC / ACC schools are not playing in the Spring
- allows 3 months of physical development where players can work with the s&C coach to develop
- players coming off injury can heal up. Anyone who had an ACL surgery last fall may be available this spring instead of having to wait until the following fall
- Rutgers is rebuilding so we were not going to be a good team this year anyway. Additional time helps
- with a young team playing 8 games in the Spring and then having a 3-4 month turnaround for the fall may have the team in a better position to play as a team then other schools with a high amount of seniors graduating

Juniors and sophomores with a chance at the NFL will skip as well. The sophs so they are ready for the fall season that allows them to declare early.

HS seniors won't be allowed to be on the roster for a spring season most likely. Think the NCAA has already mentioned this.

A spring season would be in the same academic year as playing this fall. Seniors may opt out to attend the combine or prepare for the draft, but I don't see the transfer to play in the fall (#3 minus). they should be able to play in the spring and then transfer over the summer and play in the fall elsewhere. Same issue regarding HS Seniors graduating early (#1 plus) are probably not going to be allowed to play a spring season because that would be 2 football seasons in the same academic year (unless their HS cancelled).
