I know fans are frustrated and perhaps concerned or wondering how we got "here" and what that looks like going forward. It's a little more eye opening until we see it on paper. I went back to 2020 to 2023, because even though 2019 HS kids are still playing this year, those kids with extra years because of the covid season are winding down.
Here are the number of Top 150 kids signed since 2020 through 2023 in the B1G.
Michigan 13
Michigan State 11
Illinois 11
Indiana 10
Ohio State 10
Wisconsin 7
Purdue 6
Maryland 5
Nebraska 4
Northwestern 4
Minnesota 3
Iowa 2
Penn State 2
Rutgers 2 (Cliff and Gavin).
A lot of the household names are spread across the B1G, some for Purdue that were not 150 (Zach Edey, Braden Smith) or doesn't account for portal transfers in or out of programs.
If we expand this list to 2024 recruiting, the numbers help bring RU up a little bit, but we need 2025 recruiting to spread the talent out, so we have a chance to become a consistent and capable NCAA tournament program.

Purdue 9

Things are looking up and obviously a lot of these kids elsewhere, have transferred out or left for the NBA/Pros, but the margins for error when RU lands just 1 Top 150 kid in 3 recruiting classes (2020 to 2022) is extremely thin.
