Looking at next year’s schedule got me thinking about our expanded conference payout portions. Rutgers BiG media rev share starting in 2024 seems opaque. I’ve read that each league member will get ~$70M in 2024 with a gradual increase to ~$90M in 2029. In essence, that will boost our rev share by $10M in 2024 and will cover our loan payments back to the league (the table below is the data I have on our full allotment/ allotment net of loan payments). Suffice to say, better days are ahead and we should make inroads to having a self sustaining athletic budget by the end of this decade.

· 2023: $57,963,704 | $48,941,204

· 2024: $59,702,615 | $50,970,215

· 2025: $61,493,693 | $53,055,193

· 2026: $63,338,504 | $56,178,379

· 2027: $65,238,659 | $65,238,659

Does that include our 39% in Big10 Network?

Yes, I believe those numbers are based on our 1/14th share (soon to be diluted down to 1/18th share) of the 39% of BTN owned by the Big Ten Conference.

The other 61% of BTN is owned by Fox.

Hot take: the athletic department shouldn't be self sustaining.
University should be a major contributor to funding non-revenue athletics.

Why does the revene sports have to pay to prop up other sports?
If the non-revenue sports are so critical to the University, then let the University pay for them - not football/basketball.
