Recruiting Tidbits:
QB Sam Saxton (St. Michael’s Academy - TX):
TKR has learned that Rutgers indeed decided to back off of Saxton and push for Snyder after his recent camp performance. The staff wasn’t confident that they could land Saxton regardless if he visited or not so they decided to go for the more sure thing, in the more local recruit in Cole Snyder. Right now Saxton is hearing from A&M and ASU, neither has offered yet and he is in the midst of planning an official visit to New Mexico very soon.

QB Cole Snyder (Southwestern - NY): Snyder committed to Rutgers earlier this week, but he was hearing from quite a few programs before the commitment. Something that might be a little interesting to some people, Snyder was hearing a lot from Harvard, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Syracuse and Yale before the commitment. After talking to some connected sources, it was believed that Purdue and Syracuse were very close to offering, but wanted to see him in camp before sending out any type of offer.

DE Bryce Nelms (West Orange - NJ): The 2019 defensive end prospect is very high up on Rutgers board right now and he was originally scheduled to visit Pitt next weekend for a camp, but it sounds like that visit is most likely will not happen. This is good news for Rutgers as Nelms could decide to put an end to his recruitment in the very near future.

LB Kameron Blount (St. Charles - MD): Despite being a Maryland commit, the Scarlet Knights are heavily pursuing the class of 2019 linebacker out of Maryland. DB coach Cory Robinson has a lot of ties to the area and it seems to be paying off as Blount is heavily considering the Scarlet Knights.

DB Kerry Martin (Capital - WV): Rutgers is pushing for Martin once again and it seems to be working. He is hoping to visit Rutgers some time this month and should he make the trip, there is a good chance that he will end up committing.

ATH Zukudo Igewnagu (Worchester Academy - MA): Igwenagu told TKR that his top two schools are Duke and Rutgers. He just visited and camped at Duke last weekend and enjoyed it a lot. However, right now Rutgers still holds a slight edge. He is set to camp at Syracuse this weekend, and plans on visiting Rutgers shortly after. He told TKR that he's hoping to make a decision by the end of this month.

Richie’s Rumblings:
  • Hearing Rutgers will add a commitment some time later today. (Yes, this is the one I hinted at last week)
Inside Chris’ Cranium:
  • Don’t be shocked if Michael Maietti starts at center and Jonah Jackson goes to left guard this upcoming. Safe to say that here at TKR we are not completely sold on Mike Lonsdorf starting at left guard yet.

TEAM NEWS
BASEBALL:
Right now it sounds like Rutgers might be losing two players to the MLB draft as it is very likely that Rutgers catcher Nick Matera will sign with the Philadelphia Phillies after being drafted on Wednesday. Matera was picked with the 1007th pick in the 34th round of the draft.

LACROSSE: Goalkeeper Max Edelmann has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA and that will play a big factor as the team continues to try and make the NCAA tournament again next season. Throughout his career, Edelmann has started 32 games in his career boasting a 22-10 record as a Scarlet Knight while making 316 saves.
