While that is a great step forward for the women's game, it should be taken into account that their championship game was on ABC, while the men's game for some inexplicable reason was relegated to a cable channel. So those without cable couldn't watch it. Very little of the tournament was on CBS.

Yeah! That is a great point about the men's broadcast. 🤨 Very strange championship coverage.

It is a media deal, in fact. Apparently - I was told this verbally and don't care enough to look it up - the deal is that once every so many years, TNT gets the Final Four, in exchange for the fact they are partnered with CBS which does not have enough stations (a la ESPN for the women) to broadcast the men's tourney.

Yes, that may have affected final numbers, but never-the-less the women's number is phenomenal.
