The current recruits who could have stayed in state, and always been part of the Rutgers family will look back and realize they really missed the boat. Except for the very, very few that leave a lasting mark at an out of state school, most will just be a footnote on a long list of out of state players that played for them. sort of like a rent a cop

I bet you were saying the same thing in 2006.

We will get there but it might take some time until the full money infusion from the B1G. Hard to compete against schools that a +50% financial advantage over us. Money is everything in big time collegiate sports.

True, but also consider that for the most part these elite jersey kids are leaving for other big 10 schools who already get and will continue to get the Big 10 money. if we're going to really come up in this league, we need donors, BIG TIME

I just posted on premium board that we can get to middle of them big rankings in about 5 to 7 years and then in about 10 years we have a shot a division championship when big money comes in and if we get some 4 and 5 star recruits by then

Do you believe the administration will continue to subsidize the athletic department at current levels once the B1G revenues flow more strongly? Won't there be pressure from academics and others to cut that subsidy on a dollar-for-dollar basis?

As an outsider my take is you're going to have to do it the Wisconsin/MSU way. Meaning, you're going to have to build by wining on the field which Isn't going to be easy and it is going to take time.

From reading your board this is my perception of your money woes:
  • The influx of money is going to all conference members so compared to an ACC team you'll climb the ranks but compared to a B1G team you're treading water.
  • There's still a huge subsidy that going to have to be paid down.
  • You're still not getting a full share for another 5ish years so compared to the B1G; you're really 5 years away from treading water.
  • A lack of donors, well at least compared to the rest of the B1G.
  • Stadium size is in the third tier of the B1G; HPSS is 12/14 in capacity, but not significantly different than the bottom 6ish. This means less gate revenue compared to the top of the conference.

I just hope RU can remain competitive UNTIL the Big Ten money starts coming in. If we can remain sort of a middle of the pack football program until then we should be able to see the dividends coming in. If we fall towards the Indiana level, it may take a while to get back up.

They have already committed to cut the subsidy. I don't think there is going to be nearly the amount of wiggle room in the budget as many here believe. Costs will rise and there is a very large gap to close with the subsidy.

Actually it's not JUST the revenue, but the commitment to making RU FB and all sports better is what the next RU Administration needs to do.
The current RU President is not supporting the Athletic Department when it comes to investing in FB and the other sports in order to
make RU more competitive in the B1G.
Doing the minimum is not going to make RU FB or any RU Sport competitive against the best and the better recruits see that and go elsewhere.
We can blame Flood all we want, but if the kids don't see a program fully supported by the school's administration, why should they support it by committing to that school.
Thy next RU Administration needs to be sports friendly or no matter how much revenue RU receives from the B1G, it will take a sports friendly administration to give the sports programs what they need to be successful and not try to run them on the cheap
