I’m not including Mulcahy or Young...these guys do a lot of good things but this is just about the improvements I want to see and they should all be working on over the spring/summer.

Carter: Develop some type of post game - something. Also, stop missing so many bunnies 2-4 feet from the hoop.

Eugene: Develop an outside shot - showed glimpses earlier in the year but never happened. Also, please get and stay healthy.

Baker: Defense needs to pick up - if Mulcahy can handle some PG he will still be defending the opposing ball handler. Also, develop a few more ball skills as teams have started to figure out the drive/pull back/cross over moves.

Kiss: Improve that 3 pt percentage - not good enough for a so called sharp shooter. Also find other ways to get shots off (slashing).

Doucoure: Stay out of foul trouble - will need that body for minutes with the Loss of Shaq and he averaged about a foul a minute last year. Also, be a force on the glass.

Harper: S&C - lose the baby fat and put on muscle. Also, fix that arc on the outside shots to give the ball a better chance of going in.

Mathis: Play more composed for a full 40 minutes (less dumb fouls and forced shots). Also, develop an outside shot.

McConnel: S&C - has a nice frame that needs to be filled out. Also, become quicker with the ball.

Johnson: Be mean for a full 40 minutes - we saw glimpses of that potential. Also, increase the free throw 20-25 % pts. 40% overall can’t happen again.

I'll try but not limiting to two things

Shaq Carter: Loved the hustle, the way he sprints down to court. Had some good moments and games for us. With a season under his belt and being a senior he has to decide what type of player he can be to help the team the most. For me I would like him to hit the weight room (strength and conditioning). Dedicate himself to being a role player that boxes out and attacks each rebound. Not as athletic as Jordan Murphy but have his desire to get the ball. Work with Coach Young on team and individual defensive concepts and positioning. Great strides making foul shots to end the season, keep that up.

Eugene: Heart of a warrior, has improved so much since coming in his freshman year. First and most important, be healthy. Next, watch as much game film as possible. Has to learn to value each possession, too many "unforced" errors. Learn that there is nothing wrong with kicking the ball out and resetting in the post. Demand more movement from teammates when you get the ball in the post and prove you are willing to reward that player movement.

Geo Baker: Another offseason to get stronger and better cardio. If the plan is to play more off the ball next year be relentless moving without the ball. Be this teams Steve Alford, where you make the guy guarding you work hard ever possession. With the added depth at guard net year you should get more breaks to recover. Work on handle even more. Foul shooting, should be close to 80% or better.

Peter Kiss: Tough one as he might be the odd man out. Accept a role, find how best to help the team. If its as simple as giving max effort when called upon, so be it, do the little things. If its being a three point threat work on your shot, should do this regardless. Ask the staff how best can you help the team to win games. Hit your foul shots.

Doucoure: Didn't get to see what he can offer this year and how healthy he is. If a back issue, that could linger. Just seeing him in warmups he looked very bulky. Needs to be in basketball condition. Would love to see him work with Austin Johnson to develop that baby hook that really served AJ to the point that it became a legit offensive weapon. They are similar in size, might be worth a shot. Seems like a very willing teammate. Would like him to use his strength and go up strong under the basket, less finesse more power.

Ron Harper: As stated, strength and conditioning. Ron has a high ceiling, he can be as good as he wants. Really stepped up as the season progressed. Wish he grew those 3 or 4 inches his dad said he would. Keep working on all aspects of your game, including foul shooting. No reason he shouldn't be a 75% foul shooter. I think he will benefit from Mulcahy and Young being here.

Montez Mathis: This is the toughest one for me. Guess I would recommend watching as much game film as possible. Find out when its good to attack and when not too. Tough to say not be aggressive but it has to be quality aggression not quantity. Really would like Tez to become this teams Daryl Smith. Work hard to be a great defender. Showed flashes on defense but also lapses. Too many times stood up and ran after the guy he was guarding. Work on shooting, better ball release and rotation, and foul shooting (I recommend Pistol Pete's Homework video on shooting). He gets to the line more than anyone, has to make at least 2 3rds of his foul shots. Has it in him to be a good passer also.

Caleb McConnell: Strength and weight. At close to 6'7" and listed at 185, has to add muscle to entire body, bottom to top. Hopefully can get him to over 200lbs by adding muscle to his frame (Including legs). Like his game and court awareness. His passing ability along with Mulcahy's might just become contagious and lead to a team that has great ball movement. Speed and agility drills might be in order too, help with lateral quickness.

Myles Johnson: Possibly my favorite player now. Has so much potential. Has to develop a move to go with his right hand hook. Something going to his left. A drop step power move? A short turn around bank shot? Something to stop the defense from overplaying his right hand move. Has great court vision for a big, love his passing ability, but he has to become a little more selfish when he gets the ball in the low post. Power up and dunk on people, get a mean streak, saw some of that at the end of the season. Can't teach his wing span, good hands for a big too. How did we get this kid, such a high ceiling with 3 more years to develop. Should be a double/double machine going forward, but has to start making foul shots at a higher rate, can't be under 55%. Unless we recruit another legit big we will need him on the court for more than 20/25 minutes a game, he is that valuable. So S&C are a must.

Probably will think of more things for each, but its a start, interested to hear other peoples views.

Carter: 1) Learn how to be a better defender and hedge better. 2) Work on his hands catching the ball

Eugene: Don't let the ball stick in the post when you receive it.

Baker: Learn how to get through screens without being a liability and looking like you're doing it in slow motion. Become more consistent on the offensive end and STOP ATTEMPTING ALLY-OOPS YOU'RE NOT GOOD AT IT.

Kiss: Become a plus defender. Stop playing scared and start battling.

Doucoure: Be a defensive savant and do not take jumpers from the elbow or wing.

Harper: Keep doing you. Be more assertive and take on more of a leadership role and hit the weight room.

Mathis: Be consistent and learn the game better. Stop playing out of control.

McConnel: Straight up S&C. This kids ceiling is enormous, if he can add 15 pounds of muscle he's going to be a beast.

Johnson: Throw around your weight, play with more anger and be more assertive.

Johnson: Stop bringing that ball down on the power dribble. Straight up w it. Free throws
Geo: Defense, defense, defense
Harper: S&C, mid range post up game

two random ones

Johnson:.... don't be afraid to be the man late in the game....the team gets the ball to you late, turn around and flush it.....get stronger, so you don't get stuffed.....get mean

Mathis:....loved the moves to the basket mid season, it seemed like you either scored or got fouled..... you appeared to be the prize of the frosh class..... need more of that again

Geo: catch and shoot
MM: better decision making, outside shot (a lot)
Eugene: outside shot, kick out from post
MJ: foul shooting, strong finishes, awareness
RH: one click up on everything
CM: consistency
PK: swagger, focus
MD: rebounds/put backs, less fouling (or smarter)

with the exception of Geo, Eugene and Caleb - free throw shooting should be at the top of the list for all of these guys!

All the players, except Johnson, Shaq Carter and Duke.

Stay long hours in the new Practice Facility working on shooting.

All the players, except Eugene.....Strength and Conditioning to add muscle.

Eugene, Shaq, Johnson and Duke - work on low post moves finishing around the rim. Specifically for Johnson ---- don't pass the ball out of the paint, go up strong and finish.

Was really looking forward to peoples thoughts here, surprised not more responses.

Mathis - improve foul shooting. As one of our only slashers, he gets to the line a lot. He needs to improve in this area.

Your point about Eugene letting the ball stick is spot on. One aspect of his game that could improve and make a world of difference.

S&C for almost everyone willing be a big part of development. Our guards have potential to be nightmare matchups if they get significantly stronger.

Peter Kiss, learn how to pass the ball. Pass to Eugene was pathetic.

Geo = develop a left hand, work on a midrange knockdown spot, dribbling, weight room.

Mathis = shooting shooting shooting, left hand, 1000 free throws a day.

Harper= left hand, knockdown three, lowpost moves, midrange shot.

McConnell = weight room, left hand, dribbling,

Kiss = dribbling, drives, three point and midrange, weight room

Myles = foul shooting, foul shooting, weight room, going left and right in the post

Gene = midrange knockdown from the elbows and baselines, dribbling, passing

Shaq= midrange and lowpost, weightroom

Duke= weight room, knockdown from foul line and in, go to low post move

Good thread considering that 90% this year's minutes return next year. Looking forward to the four freshmen next year, as they have the most potential for improvement imo.

No excuse for RHJ if he does not grow 2". Get it done man!
