Interesting prospect - he was a 6-0 point guard last year and shot up 7 inches in 12 months to be a 6-7 wing this year. Would come in with a stronger handle/drive skillset than many wings, but would likely need to work on his post offense/defense (since this will be the first year he's ever really had the height to be down there).
He definitely looks interesting. Needs to fill out. Love that he's got pg skills. Gonna take time for him to gain strength.
I like his size and outside shot.Like most Rutgers players this recruit could benefit from some time in weight training.
Yes, he had to think...immediate playing time available. I'm sure that's the message they delivered to him.
I actually like his long arms as well. Rutgers needs guys with more length. They don't have to be all 6'9", but long arms are a great assets. You can tip more balls on defense, finish easier in the paint and more.
@Russ Wood ....... I'm interested if you have any insights into Chuba Ohams overall game or who may be leading for his services? He specifically mentioned VCU, but, they have D. Jenkins, but he may be viewed as a SG, whereas, Ohams looks like a SF.
I would be very happy with rounding out the class with 3 out of these four: ohams, Issa thiam, maishe Dailey and niem Stevenson. Even though the 6'9 thiam is a good shooter, he has also been described as a hound on the defensive end.

Four total scholarships for next year, replacing Lewis, Daniels, and Grier and filling the open slot left for this season.
Right now we have a shooting guard verbal in Tripp. If Ohams commits, that would be a wing to back up Laurent. Need to bring in a big body in this class for depth underneath, and preferably another shooter. We really need someone who can move well enough to get open for shots, and who can consistently drain 3s when Sanders gets him the ball.

I think Nigel Johnson can play the point when Corey is out of the game. We need "true" shooters and another big man, one who can bang, be athletic and score a bit.
I don't know Chuba Ohams and I haven't seen him play.
As for VCU, they are probably looking at him because Jenkins has work to do to get qualified...so I've been told.
