Wrestling 2021 wrestling recruit Hamilton commits to Rutgers

Huge pick up, great frame and athleticism to be an elite heavy weight if he continues to work hard and gain good weight

seems like a nice pick up. a little surprised that he would commit before visiting.

So psyched for the wrestling team ... awesome atmosphere, now great facilities, excellent coaching staff, tremendous student-athletes ... #DamnProud

As much as both Rutgers Basketball teams are happy about the new RWJ Barnabas Center Opening, the coaches of Rutgers Wrestling and Gymnastics must be frothing at the mouth about the upgrade in facilities.

Hope this doesn't mean no Ferrari. He said in a interview yesterday he's 220 and his goal is 255.

I can't see any recruit committing having an effect on Ferrari.
In fact, it will be the opposite. If a high level recruit sees AJ in the fold, they might de-commit.
RU cannot put all of their eggs in one basket.
I believe Hamilton is our highest rated heavy weight recruit to date

It is surprising he committed before visiting but he obviously has been in contact with the coaching staff for awhile (See Aragona photo)

Is the mindset of a top level wrestler different than what we are seeing with QBs around the country. With the QBs it seems to be, well you named Billy Jones as starter so I am out of here. With wrestlers, are they more likely to embrace the challenge of having someone else really good on the team? Is it possible to get two really good kids at the same weight and both of them stay?

Football has 85 scholarships and everyone is going to school for free.In wrestling with 9.9 scholarships as a staff if you spent 50% on Hamilton and give a full ride to Ferrari you just spent 15% of your scholarships on 1 starting spot.Thats why you don't see 2 top guys at the same weight. And now with the new transfers rules guys can go start elsewhere.

Just watched several of his matches on Flo and I was impressed. He has great athleticism to go along with his 6' 4" - 6' 5" frame. He could easily pack on another 20-30 pounds. It seems like he is going to wrestle 220 his HS junior year, but I would not be surprised if he is wrestling at heavy his senior year.

Lex or anyone else know if Nate Schon is officially committed also that would make the number 7 and 8 220lbers nationally
