2025 MBB scholarship limit raised to 15

This is meaningful if it includes the number of walk ons permitted. With NIL the scholarship limits are not meaningful since a recruit can be paid well beyond what a scholarship can offer. Not sure what will happen with the Ivy Leagues which in the past did not offer athletic scholarships. Wonder if we will see a billionaire Ivy League graduate fund NIL to such an extent that the team could become a national title contender.

Great stuff. Didn’t think about that. Totally agree.

It is a roster cap. 105 including scholarship, partial and no scholarship players.

Regarding Ivy League becoming a national champion in football, it is highly unlikely. As a parent of a HS player looking to get into Ivy football, there is a pre-read process in which an Ivy League school asks to see your education transcript, ACT/SAT scores and school profile. This vetting takes place to ensure you are in the ballpark academically to make it into the school. It is doubtful that there are enough 4 star and 3 star players in the country who score over 1300 SAT/33 ACT to fill out a 85-105 player roster.
Could it be done in basketball, maybe but it is highly unlikely that you could find enough 5 and 4 star players in basketball to prequalify into an Ivy.
You do see it in other sports regularly though (rowing, fencing)

I would use the extra scholarships on raw undeveloped late bloomer and see if I can develop them …..
