...where there has been a number of fans hoping for the team to lose so the future of the program is protected. That's pretty damn alarming, and IMO should be enough to move on from Flood.
In 2013 it was the blowout loss to Houston that really put everyone on edge. Then the bounce back win vs Temple. Two blowouts to Cincy and ranked Louisville. The loss at UConn, and then saved his job by beating a bad USF team.
In 2014 it was the consistent blowouts by the same teams this year (save UM). People get pissed, what happens? Flood beats a bad IU team and a decent Maryland team (don't kid yourself, that was for Fridge, not Flood). Saves his job again.
This year (2015): blowouts blowouts blowouts. Not even competitive. But once again, the season ends with cupcakes (relative to the rest of the B1G). What happens? Does flood win 2 of 3 to go 5-7 to save his job again?
See the issue? Flood has saved his job 3 straight seasons by beating less than stellar teams. It has nothing to do with money or available HC jobs, but more so the admins acceptance for mediocrity.
Enough is enough Rutgers, find the money and get the job done. The fact that this has been an ongoing thing should be enough. Even if Flood wins out, I want him gone. I absolutely HATE rooting against Rutgers, but it makes me sick to my stomach watching what Flood is doing to this program. You can say I'm not a fan for rooting for us to lose, ZFG. I sat through the WVU home game during the snow storm. I sat through the frigid cold weather at Army some years back. I sat through that entire Cincy blowout at home in 2009(?).
I've seen my fair share of blowouts and bad losses and I've sat through 99% of them and have accepted it. The reason I can't through these blowouts is because I have absolutely no hope for the following week. Being so emotionally invested, it hurts too much to watch over and over again.
