First, I think I need to take a break from reading these boards for a while. I can't stand how many times I have to hear the Schiano blow-hards talk about how we screwed up not hiring him (I'm glad we didn't) and how he's going to crush us in recruiting (he's not). I also can't stand how many times I have to hear about having a coach who isn't working for us yet (c'mon, how do people seriously believe that).

But, before I flee for the hills for a while, I wanted to just point out how excited I am about this new era of Rutgers football. Even though he's only been here a short while, it is obvious that Ash is looking to build a new brand. THIS is how he's planning on taking RU to the next level. He's building an up and coming program and he's being authentic about doing so. The best evidence for this is the staff he's brought in already and the brief mentions about a new offense and defensive strategies.

It's one thing to say that this program is going in a new direction. It's another to actually show that it is. This is paramount for recruiting, where backing up your talk is so important. The OC hire is on-point here. If Ash is truly going to make this an up and coming program, then he needs to bring in up and coming coaches. You can't really be up and coming when you hire old retreads for staff, right?

I would expect similar up and coming guys for some of our other positions as well and I'm pumped. Everyone should just be excited with our new direction and embrace it. The past is the past and it's not like we had a lot worth holding on to.
