with a budget of 2MM tops for a head coach and then a budget of 1MM tops for both coordinators - and i am being VERY optimistic with both #, and below P5 average pay for assistants and position coaches.........................
Who can you find that is better than Flood that will recruit NY/NJ/Pa better and has better relationships with the local coaches AND is willing to work for Julie Herman and Spineless Barchi. Oh, and throw in the fact that whoever this savior is, he will be under more negative media scrutiny than coaches at any major program
Answer that one simple question before bitching and moaning and making knee-jerk assessments. Schiano has already stated that he wont work for Julie and people seem to forget that he was a great program builder but not so good game day coach who won NOTHING in his time here. The best case scenario for Flood-haters is Matt Rhule and i suspect that by the end of the year he will be too expensive for Rutgers to hire and/or he will wait for a better opportunity
so please, answer that one simple question before realizing that the grass isnt always greener, especially if you are at Rutgers. I for one, am thankful that Kyle almost got us to a BCS bowl in his first year, got us to a bowl game in his first season in the Big 10 and has even gotten us to the level where we can expect to win without our 2 best players, a brand new secondary and breaking in a new QB on the road in a hostile environment. The majority of the Schiano teams of the Big East would not even be as competitive as we were tonight.
Lets face it, we outperformed last year and got a few lucky bounces in close games, this year we may see the reverse. I can assure you that Kyle Flood didnt get dumber between his 3rd and 4th year of coaching. Kyle is a smart man who will continue to learn and grow,and those who think its too late, just give me a realistic option given the CONSTRAINTS mentioned above
