Today was my first day on campus in 9 years, and I was impressed by many of the renovations and changes.....however, one thing I had expected to see today that I didn't was the flags of all of the big ten schools. The only place I saw it today was at Scarlet Fever. I actually think they should have that in the middle of campus, not just near the stadium, where the B1G logo is omnipresent.

Flying all the flags serves as a reminder that you're in the big time, and you're competing with the best.

They are in the process. Currently, flags of the Big Ten schools fly in the RAC and in Werblin. Come this fall, we will have them in the stadium and also banners in the Student Center like the other schools do.

Agree with the sentiment of the OP, but we are working on limited funds right now and installing 14 flagpoles would cost in the 6 digits, so it's a matter of priority until more money comes in.

In the past 2 years I have been to; Michigan-Michigan State-Nebraska-Ohio State-Penn State. They love the B1G. Around the stadiums, in their student centers and dining halls, the other schools fly the conference flags everywhere. RU needs to get on this yesterday. I've been hearing about the student centers for 18 months now...and still no flags. Around campus these schools have BTN playing in cafe's/student centers etc. I actually watched the RU-UM ladies bball game, while eating at a Michigan State student cafe. But we have the athletic dept/the operations folks/the student center people. Who pays for banners? Who hangs the banners? Who cleans/replaces the banners? we can't figure these things out, so it hasn't been done yet. This is nickel/dime stuff that EVERYONE sees everyday. It's perception, it builds school pride. We are in the best conference there is, so let's be loud and proud about it!!

agree with SF..this should have been prepared from when RU was invited into the Big 10...like back to Pernetti and McCormick and getting the program up to speed. It shouldnt be a question of limited funds..you are a member of the Big 10 you do it and it shouldnt take three years into the league to do it

Should have been part of the Welcome to the Big 10 welcome package they gave us lol. They could have added $100k to the vastly reduced earnings share (a rounding error) to help us promote the league. THIS TIME I will give RU the pass as I would agree that there are higher priorities for the cash.

you don't even need to install more flagpoles - I do see why that could be a legit budget issue.

You can incorporate the Big Ten school logos into the "R" banners that endlessly repeat on the streetposts around campus.
