A Week (plus) Off: Does team (Hopefully) get it fixed?

Just curious..

Final chance to implement changes and correct course.
Too many discrepancies, and not enough solutions on this team. I think a majority of us are majorly frustrated and ticked off after Princeton, and rightfully so. For a program that always seems to shop in the bargain bin, we finally got not 1, but 2 shiny toys 'The Haves' always seem to get. This was our big chance to show we can play with the big boys too, and all we proved was that we are small time - that this stage isn't for us. It @#%!$%! sucks, Period!!!!

So again, in answer to your question there is not a realistic fix I see here - I really hope I'm wrong, but I just dont think I am. The team we've seen for the first 1/3 of the season is really who we are.

This team has had a week off twice. Got smoked by Ohio State and lost to Princeton. Either the staff really sucks or the kids aren't paying attention to what they are taught during the extra time. Either way, the aren't going to find a way to win 13 more games and make the tournament.

Need a power forward to fix it. Apparently there isn’t one on the roster.
That guy pike lost to Georgia tech would have been perfect right now. Instead pike kept Gavin, who was a stiff. Now both of those guys are gone and the roster is woefully incomplete

The entire roster mutined on him last year. But it was all worth it because this year is special

It’s up to the coach to do the fixing, that said Pike had an offseason to construct an offense that allows for 2 superstars and a bunch of role players to shine, he did nothing!
Don’t anticipate him doing it in 1 week.

There is a lot for Ace to fix.
I said it tucked in other threads.....people didn't want to hear it and pushed back. Ace is not helping us win games and in fact he could be hurting us.

Did a search of B1G players who played 60%+ minutes and sorted them by their offensive rating. He was 54 out of 59.

He is shooting 50.5% from 2 and 33% from 3 and is NOT getting to the FT line. His FT rate is 45th out of 59. How is this possible?

Him shooting 17 feet contested shots from the baseline just isn't efficient.

Agree. The time to fix this was months ago. Pike stood down. It may go down as the worst roster construction we have seen in many years. And that's a really high bar. Squandered opportunity is an understatement.

Ace is good enough to help us but he is not good enough to be as much of a focus of the offense as he currently is.

The scouting reports say he is freakishly athletic. He isn't playing that way and quite frankly plays like a long unathletic player.

He is more Glen Rice and not Sean Kemp

@NickRU714 DO YOU HEARME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you think a Dan Hurley run or Princeton run offense would have done for ACE, how about some assists from Dylan and the 5.
What would that have done for spacing and engagement of the role players and the win loss total to date.
ISO ball is corosive and demoralizing, BBall is a team game, it’s bad for team chemistry and at the end of the day wins and losses. From a coaching standpoint it’s unimaginative and lazy.

They would have put better players around them and run a functional offense. For better or mostly worse, this is who Pike is. At least he isn't trying to fool us. Most of our fans do that work for him.

Pike has a low ceiling. We expect too much as fans. Making the dance once every five years is about it. Results justify this expectation. Pike’s time has passed. In today’s environment he lacks the resources and knowledge to do better.

Still projected to be a #3 pick after a month of hoops. He’s fine.
He's projected to be a #3 pick because he is expected to fix the things he needs to fix. Whether that happens here or once he is already in the NBA, I don't know, but he might as well get started now.

If you put Ace on an NBA court tomorrow he would not be good at all.

I take that back because we have no one to replace him with unfortunately....we might be better offensively (IN THE SHORT TERM) with PJ instead of Ace, but defense is a huge issue. We might be better offensively (IN THE SHORT TERM) with Martini, but we wouldn't rebound.

Xaivian cooked everyone, including Dylan.

He’s a legit NBA prospect.

Didn't see much of Dylan in that highlight video.

What does "legit NBA prospect" mean?
He declared after last season, was likely 2nd round/undrafted and withdrew.
Didn't get an NBA Combine invite - went to the G-League Camp but didn't get moved up to the Combine.

RHJ and Caleb were "legit NBA prospects too". That term gets thrown around without any real context.

It's a term thrown around by people who don't know what it takes to actually play in the NBA.

Yikes!
Explains alot.
More than a couple plays of our "defensive stopper" running behind Lee while he goes to the hoop for an easy basket.

Honestly these highlights actually make me think more highly of Davis. Very few times do you see Davis being the one not making the play. He had his way more with JWill and Derkack...do see quite a bit of half a$$ attempts of help
