Accolades Keep Coming For RU Golfer Chris Gotterup

Nice selection for a Monmouth County kid who went to CBA.

We played Charleston Springs GC often, where he won a hs championship. Good link.

Anyone know why he ended up at Rutgers. This is not a knock on rutgers whatsoever. But when you are a elite golfer with realistic pro dreams you typically don’t want to play in the northeast. Either go south or west. It’s a pure geography thing for a game of golf. Nothing to do with school.
I know he is local Curious how he ended up here. Did he not have big scholarships out of college

fair enough.. makes me wonder if he spends every break in year-round golf country.. or if he is THAT good without that.. how good will he be when he moves someplace he can play year-round. Or.. maybe he is serious about school.. oh.. a Communications major.. but also on the distinguished scholars list. I'd suggest a transfer schollie to Duke... of maybe if he's doing all online stuff now just do it from the south in the winter.

I’m 5 minutes from Charleston. What a great facility. I prefer the North Course but they’re both superb.

I don't know that many NJ kids get big D1 offers. The only two that immediately come to mind are Morgan Hoffman (Okie St) 15? years ago and Jim McGovern (Ark) in the 80's. He definitely was the best HS golfer in Monmouth Co for a couple years but it's not like he dominated in statewide competitions. I don't imagine NJ HS Golf compares all that well with much of the rest of the country or world considering college golf is an international affair.

All that matters is he's continuing to get better and RU is fortunate to have him.

Thanks and agree. Also, Tyler hall had a full scholarship to Kansas in the early 2000s Played with Gary woodland. He bounced around a few tours post college and is now the head pro at upper Montclair. Has won a bunch of local professional tournaments like the Met and NJSGA

Not many Northeast college golfers go on to big PGA careers. This kid could break through. A few years ago Keegan Bradley played his college golf St. Johns in NYC. His dad was an asst pro in New Hampshire where Keegan played public school HS golf. Of course his aunt is HOF Pat Bradley, so he had good golf genes.
