adios tymir oliver

Can't blame him. Hope he reconsiders when the new coach comes aboard.

At least wait and see who the new coaching staff will be first...but anyway buhbye!

There is only one commit that I would be disappointed if we lost him, and even that could be overcome by a great hire. This is about long term success and stability, not a couple of players.

I would gladly take this class blown up to hire a home run coach who can make us great again. In order to make an omelet you have to break some eggs.

Actually a smart kid. He committed to a coach and a staff as well as RU. New coach and staff may not (or may be) what he wants. So, he needs to gauge other interest out there. Also, new staff may not want HIM. This affords everyone the opportunity to do what's best for the athlete.

Keep in mind: He likes the school, so we should have a leg up on other schools in the re-recruiting process.

I would expect a few, more quite a few more of this. Makes sense all the way around. The only real drawback is if we take a long time to hire the new guy, also getting the new staff put together. Some kids will get nervous and take the devil they know.

Two months to Signing Day. New staff will re-recruit all these guys. If we get a guy that can recruit and sell RU the right way, a large number should come back into the fold. There is a reason they wanted RU in the first place and there isn't a ton of openings at other schools.

Remember earlier in the week when we thought we'd have a coach by this past Tuesday? Yeah, the recruits thought that too. They also thought there would be viable buzz as to potential interested candidates that were exciting. We have neither.

Why does anyone assume Flood would close anybody come NSD?

He was an awesome recruiter - until our recruits got noticed by other schools - then he couldn't close a door
That says more about Rutgers than it does about Flood. About Flood, it says, "good at recognizing talent, early." See: Turay, K.

This is a two way street. The new coach will have players that want to follow him to Rutgers. Based on who it is things could get real interest.

We will see exactly what it says about Rutgers if we get a competent coach and recruiter who can sell the vision..

Flood had to recognize talent early because established talent wanted nothing to do with him

A competent coach who can recruit and sell the vision....let's see....have we ever had one of them before?

I would say yes, except for that "competent" part. To me, it's not that hard to "sell" anything to a 17 year old kid. But, getting that product, elevating it, then having the product produce, well that takes a little more.

Maybe it's not hard to sell a 17 year old 'Bama, OSU, etc, but tell me why every coaching position wants a good recruiter? How many times have you seen a terrific coach unable to recruit talent? Why haven't we been able bring in those 4 and 5 stars whenever we want? Maybe the school has something to do with it. And RU doesn't have that panache. So we need someone to "sell" Rutgers. Hard and successfully.

We have no idea who the candidates or buzz are. Yiu are saying you are mad bc we have no leaks and what appears to be a competent search for once?

Ditto. Recruits are following the story, and maybe they're impressed with the deliberation they perceive is going on the get the right guy. Another 2 weeks with inaction may begin another, different narration.
