per main board....ignore that idiot who posted annie

Nothing on his twitter page mentioning a commitment.

You know it goes, he probably had a good visit and a few Mich fans think it is going to happen ....maybe Amir gave an indication that he would soon....

NJ kids are all about anywhere but their state U. Rashan Gary will be final Dream Team 16 to head elsewhere - likely Michigan from what's been written.

NJ kids are all about anywhere but their state U. .

You know, it's really amazing how true that seems to be. -And ironically, I think it was Ahmir who was asked in an article several months ago, (when the Knights were reportedly at the top of his list of schools), if he ever thought of being the 1st "name" player in the '16 class to commit to RU, since that might be the trigger for other top players in the class to follow his lead.

He said he did give the idea some serious thought, but, unfortunately, it appears thinking about it was as far as things went, (again).

Hey, any kid has the right to go to any college he likes, (whether we, as RU fans, like it or not), but I honestly believe that one day this "the grass is always greener" attitude of Jersey guys will change. -Until then, though, I'll take any talented player from any state who does recognize what the Knights have to offer.

And while I'm not prepared to say, "the hell with these in-state kids", (since I'd really like to have at least a percentage of them playing here), I am prepared to say I hope we beat the livin' snot out of whatever out-of-state school they play for if we go head to head with 'em. (And as for those who say they're "reppin' Jersey" when they're playing for somebody else, well, that they can shove.)

The issue isn't with jersey kids, the issue is with Rutgers Football not offering a strong enough value proposition to keep kids instate. Michigan alumni donate upwards of $30M to their football program, yearly. Rutgers alumni donate around $10M to theirs. The difference in funds allows Michigan to have a large recruiting budget, a name head coach, and the best facilities money can buy.

As long as we keep blaming jersey kids, we will continue to watch them head out of state. I'm not going to fault someone for choosing the best situation for themselves. We have to do what we can to make Rutgers Football more attractive to Jerseys best.

No pride as a whole in NJ for NJ. Michigan is a poor state and look what they can afford. We just have excuses on how expensive it is here. They get it done and we simply fall short.

More like they donate and we don't.

Anyone who argues that UM hiring Chris Partridge isn't helping their NJ HS recruiting is full of shat. Michigan is making a killing in Jersey this year. Flood was clueless for backing down on hiring him first.

Funny that Miami does not have a problem keeping kids in that area. Maybe we just are too straight.

As for Partridge, NJ HS coaches will once more showing what hypocrites they are by grumbling to the press against Rutgers taking such folks but ok for Michigan to do so. Will be interesting to watch when Gary commits there and to see whether those complaining do anything thereafter when their top kids get ready to look at colleges.

Michigan has always recruited nj well. Has nothing to do with partridge. More that they are Michigan and they have Harbaugh. If partridge was here it would make no difference.

Anyone remember Westfield HS RB great Butch Woolfolk from the 1970s ?. Had a great career at Michigan and decent NFL career. RU great Gary Kehler (son RU RB Glen Kehler) was his HS coach at Westfield. Unfortunately , RU was playing a weak schedule back then, and Woolfolk was a big time prospect.

I don't care where the players come from. I just want to win. If that means a team of out of state kids, great. If some NJ kids want to join in and are good enough, that's fine too. NJ coaches are hypocrites no doubt. They get pissed that we won't take their second tier kids while getting their egos stroked by having their top players going to factories. Truthfully at this point I would find some perverse pleasure in having some of their prized players locked out of a successful Rutgers team because we were able to attract more talented OOS players.

Michigan has always recruited NJ very well going back decades. When there are national type recruits, Michigan is usually in the mix and has landed many over the years. Harbaugh is known as a relentless recruiter and is the main reason (other than the fact that it is Michigan) that they are doing well in NJ.

Someone needs to tell these guys to wake up. Michigan is irrelevant when it comes to competing for championships. They lost to both newcomers last year and are replacing a QB this year. We have more wins then them since 2006. I completely understand why players go there..... But now is the time to get these HS players to stop buying the bs.
