Per Todderick, expected to arrive on campus this month.

So... that means he's gonna start Week 1, right? 😂

You just know if Wimsatt isn’t great there’s gonna be so many people calling for Sheppard to play.

Ajani actually throws more accurately than Wimsatt. Gavin has to pick up his game.
Al, is that you? Seriously? Like David Soul sang, don't give up on Gavin yet.

In high school, everyone looks like a superstar. IMO, they look very similar in high school.

Gavin's Junior film:

Ajani's high school film:

Let's see how Ajani looks in college, particularly against B1G defenses before making any declarations.

No matter what we all think Gavin is the day one starter with Evan as the back up.
Sheppard will play a little during the year but no enough to lose his red shirt.

I believe in Gavin but he has to get better.

Gavin had some bad moments and some errant throws this past year, but he can make the throws. The whole offensive scheme and execution was so poorly crafted, it is sometimes hard to tell what went wrong on some plays. If you watched the game last night, Max Duggan looked very bad. As he himself said, the Georgia defense was lights out and they baited him into bad throws.

Coaching and scheme matters as much or more than talent. We can debate this point to death, but IMO coaching and scheme is more important.

And not knocking the young man, and wish I could find it, but I distinctly remember Ash comparing Johnathan Lewis to Cardale Jones at Ohio State. Just a wild guess here, but with proper coaching and scheme, Lewis and Rettig could have had some success here. That is the other black hole in the post-Teel era--other than one year of Ralph Friedgen, QB development and coaching has been horrific at RU.

I'm not a message board genius, but I'm fairly sure that with terrible OL recruiting and development and no QB coaching/development, a team is not going to score a lot of points or win many games. Here's to hoping Kirk C can fix these issues, and if not completely, at least make them better.

You really think scheme and a QB coach (like every other position has) matters? I mean its only the most important position in the game, arguably in all of sports.

Sure-scheme and coaching matters a lot. That does not mean a team can succeed with a bunch of 2 star and a few three star players either. But do you need a roster like Ohio State or Alabama to effectively compete in most games? I don't think so. Will it be much more difficult to get ranked in the top 10 or to the CFP- sure. But RU has a long way to go before it can start thinking about the lofty goals.

I was being sarcastic. Think it's madness people don't grasp this, and, accept the degree of offensive mediocrity we've shown on the field.

The favorite place to go with this is Gary Nova's final year under Friedgen. From 2014:

"Nova has the body (6-foot-2, 220 pounds). He had the pedigree. Nova went 24-0 as a starter and led Don Bosco Prep to two New Jersey state championships. Yet, through 30 starts in three seasons at Rutgers, Nova rarely rose above mediocre. A touchdown-to-interception ratio of 57-40 will whiten a coach's hair."

"Rutgers, of course, has been a paragon of potential unfulfilled for decades."

"I think he has a chance to be a good quarterback," offensive coordinator Ralph Friedgen said of Nova. "I think he has vision. I think what he's got to do is keep focus. That's what he has to do. If he loses focus, he's just a guy. If he's on target, on point, he's pretty good."

"Ralph has the qualities of any great teacher," Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood said. "He's got the ability to take a lot of information and make it understandable in a short amount of time. He was able to simplify the game for Gary, and the other quarterbacks, as well. And I saw it immediately in spring practice. I saw him being a better decision-maker."

Friedgen also made one physical correction. He told Nova to get off the balls of his feet and plant his back leg before he throws.

"It's funny," Nova said. "Every time I did it the way he told me, I threw an accurate ball. And every time I didn't, I didn't throw an accurate ball."

Funny- Rob Spence was the QB coach prior to Fridge coming to RU, but he was fired in 2013. He does not mention Rutgers in his current bio, and maybe that's because he did not accomplish anything at RU?
