All Access with Rutgers Lax

Great video, love the fact that they are getting more pub. This team is going to be fun to watch with a great home slate.

That is for certain. Their style is just so appealing, which is great when it comes to outside perception and interest. I don't like to project too much, but with the alignment of the team and style, recruiting, and funding increasing (could always use more), it's exciting to see where this program is going. And it's exciting now though.

For passive RU fans, if you don't have a program you are attached to, consider the lax team. Your support through donations will go directly to a program that is deserving and doing great things.

I can't wait for the full schedule to come out...I think this on paper could be one of the best teams RU Lax ever put out onto the field. I heard WLax is having a very good fall as well and might be primed to take the next step, much like Field Hockey did this yr.

We have been playing lax for 100 years. We have had some good teams during that time. The 86 and 90 teams come to mind. That 90's team was especially stacked. If not for losing our best attackman that year, we would have been even better. I think that team had 5 or 6 All American's on it alone, maybe more.

This program is certainly trending up. If we can avoid the injury bug at key spots, get some solid play from the goalie spot and faceoffs, this team is going to be very tough. The good news is we are just now scratching the surface of how good we can be in this era. It took awhile to get things cleaned up after the last coach all but tore it all down, but the program has bene stablized and is now in growth mode. With the improved facilities forthcoming and better funding, I believe we are going to go to heights we haven't been to before under Coach Brecht.

None too soon, as our competitors are aren't stopping. One real advantage we have is our style of play. We, along with a few other programs, are at the forefront of playing fast. Or as I like to think, how the game was meant to be. I think this is a trend a lot of other teams are going to try and emulate now. It's just so pleasing to the eye, and to any lacrosse player who is an athlete and wants to make plays. As always, best to be ahead of the trends, which in this case, we clearly are. It's sexy to the lacrosse world.

Talked to one of their incoming 2017 recruits today. Said that he went down and watched them play this fall and it's insane how athletic they are. Said even the freshmen are playing at elite levels. He's very excited to be joining the program.

If it was Attanasio or Dougherty they will fit right in with this style of play

Both of those kids have really good tapes.

Attansio's football tape is pretty sick.

Family- do you guys play Bergen Catholic? We have pole coming from there named Dunmore. His tape is pretty nasty. Kid is a beast. A little raw, but once he gets a stick in his hands full time you see there is a ton of potential.

Cali- he is a freshman right now and he is not ready. Crazy athlete not a lacrosse player yet, the good thing for him is that he can sit and wait for a year or two until his stick catch's up with his athleticism. They do have a couple of poles that they like and think are very good including this giant 6'6" pole from MD. The play fast and they want to play even faster in the up coming year. I think that Mullins will play and a couple of others are starting to show, they are just fast and playing at a very high level, there are several freshmen that have flashed but they are struggling at times to keep up with the pace of play and the speed at which they want to run

Went to a recruiting thing down in Baltimore 2 weeks ago and was talking to an RU guy there - name was Jake Padilla I believe - not sure if he is one of the coaches or not. Looking forward to the season. Hopefully we make it harder for the committee to screw us this year!

I know it never happened but I would have loved to have seen the Brown vs. Rutgers game in the NCAA's last year. Would have been great for the game.

Brown is going to play at Rutgers this March come on out and watch. It is going to be great.

Thanks for the update. I wasn't putting two and two together. Nice to know if we play freshmen, it will be because they earned it, not because we need them. Much better to allow them to develop whenever possible. We are at that point now.

The pole from Maryland is intriguing based on size alone, though I know little about him other than he was a really good wrestler, which is big positive.

Assuming he can run? The squad must be really fit. If we are going to play even faster, these guys are going to have to be in tip top shape. They look good from what I have seen, that's for sure.

Really wish I could get to a practice. I saw Maryland practice out here last year and it was slow and prodding. I am guessing ours are very different.

Who primarily is implementing this offense on the coaching staff?

Mitchell runs the offense. I may try and go again on friday I will see if I can seek some video and email it to you

Sounds promising on the lax front. Does Edelman come back to claim the top spot in goal? Does the incoming freshman goalie from New York get a real long look? I would think that along with improvement on face offs are two keys for continued success.

I have a kid on my team (6 foot 5 240 pound pole) very athletic and very good defender. Young kid but starting to get a lot of interest. I think he would rather play football but he is a better lacrosse player. I am pushing for him to take the lacrosse looks.

I have another LSM. Tremendous athlete who is getting a lot of looks late because we had an academic all american in front of him. Will probably PG a year to try and get his best possible shot at where to play in college.

My kids are all such Rutgers fans. I love seeing the program doing well.

Looks very athletic certainly fits the mold of the type of pole that BB likes. we were his best offer to date though.

Edelman shold take the starting job once he shakes off the rust, and I would imagine that the back up job will be more of a fight than last year as both of the back goalies are having good and bad days.

Where do you coach? is it in NJ?

I am the HC of a central jersey school. Traditionally has been a very good school, the previous HC kind of lost his fire and stayed a year or two too long, stepped down, and I took over last year. We had a decent year, should be good this year, and should be very good for the 2018 year.

What county

Mercer. Pretty good lax down here. We need to step our game up, as a county, in order to be more competitive with the north jersey powers. I think there are some changes starting to happen which will help us grow.

Thanks. Highlights:

Definitely fits our style. Can run, handle the ball well, and is aggressive. Played football too. A number of our guys have played other sport, I think playing multiple sports is a huge plus. In this age of specialization and focus on one sports, it is a big advantage to get these types of athletes. Especially with our style.

The blueprint for this program is set and a specific type of player is being recruited for it.
