Front and center on the homepage of ESPN is an article on the Rutgers/Kansas game. As disparaging as it is, few teams get that type of coverage of what they are saying are two bad teams.

Would Syracuse Vanderbilt garner that type of attention? Nope.

Even when we lose we win in the media. If only our administration would understand that.

Rutgers is the only school in New Jersey playing FBS football in New Jersey. Meanwhile, New York state only has Army, Buffalo, and Syracuse -- of those, only one is close to NYC. And Connecticut only has UCONN.

This is why the Big Ten wanted us. It's easy to see why the media focuses on RU even if they pretend to say RU doesn't matter. There are a ton of people living in NJ/NY/CT and RU could be the big-time team for them if the football program was a winner. UCONN will always have fans, but if the AAC becomes even more of an afterthought the situation could be like South Jersey was for decades with Penn State.

I don't think there is anyone in the athletic department that doesn't understand this, and I even think Barchi does "get it," but he really has had bigger concerns, at RU, since arriving. Now...if he steps down as he said he would be doing after his 5-year term, or whatever, then I'd hope we get a President who can see the positive to taking advantage of athletics, all the time, as well as keep the academic side of things on the upswing. :pray::pray::pray::pray:

Unfortunately, we may be worse than Syracuse- think about that- on and off the field. And Vandy, no offense to them, has never been really relevant. We've been relevant a few times, and some of that time was for really outstanding off the field adjustment. Our next coach could house a family of Syrian refugees and the kid could win the Heisman for RU and people will remember this email and weed stealing baloney for the stupidity of it all. It is very sad really.
