Wow. It is hard to overstate just how weak most of our sports programs are, not only compared to top B1G teams but to B1G teams in general, power 5 teams in general and to major programs in general. Even teams that have decent W-L records over the past few years like WTennis, are never top 50 and never made the conference finals even in the AAC. Even relatively decent teams like WSoccer are virtually never close to a conference title at the end of the year. And watching MBB last night - ouch - it's almost as if they're trying to look bad - guard brings it up and doesn't pass and shoots an awful shot (this goes on all game and opponents are open under the basket all day - and it's not because we're defending well on the perimeter - Purdue was sinking 3s and long 2s all night. We've got a long way to go). Also, we had at least three awful air balls. Just pathetic to watch.

So you are saying Rutgers will not win the Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament hosted by Rutgers?

Stop it with the money excuses. Does Fairfield, Monmouth, St Peters, St Francis, Seton Hall have more money than Rutgers?

I don't know if this is the case as it relatest to this sport specifically, but there are unquestionably schools who have less revenue/funds, yet support individual sports better than we do.

Said it in another thread, but people shouldn't wonder too much how new lax programs like Richmond and Marquette got so good so quickly. They fund the programs very well. This stuff isn't too hard to figure out. You often get out of sports what you put into them.

Funding? The only affect ,IMO ,that funding has ,is that it can get you top Coaches. If that is what funding means to you then I agree. It is Coaching that builds winning teams.
