Anthony Russo Has Message for Remaining Targets

To say that his offer list is a bit underwhelming would be an understatement of huge proportions. The fact that he somehow eluded so many recruiters to become an "elite" QB is beyond comprehension. I still cannot understand how he has not been upgraded based on what has happened.
Since I have seen so many players get stars just by being recruited by name programs and not see Russo get any love is just wrong.
I can only hope he becomes one of the biggest surprises in college football in the next few years.[banana]

From what I understand, it's because Rivals doesn't update as frequently as other sites, and because Rivals doesn't include the Elite 11 in their ranking.

Every year there are recruits that are underrated and some that are overrated. There's a portion of our fanbase that needs to give up the inferiority complex. In the end, it's how they do on the field that counts.

Believe it or not, many programs are lazy in their approach to recruiting and some actually rely on the scouting services to decide who to offer outside of their region. Once the hype train leaves the station on a certain prospect (JG for example) offers start going out. Whether they are all committable offers is another question entirely. Do you really think JG LEGITIMATELY chose Tennessee over Alabama, Auburn and Clemson? Alabama probably has an offer out to ~20 JG level QB prospects nation-wide. We do it too. Go look at some of the national level 4-5 star recruits in Texas, etc. that we don't have a prayer with but hold Rutgers offers. Do you think our staff actively visits those kids and have a relationship with them? No, but they hold a Rutgers offer. For kids like Russo sometimes there is no hype train and people actually have to find the kid. But once that kind of kid is committed no one is going to waste their time if the kid is rock solid to another program. If Russo hadn't verballed to RU prior to the Elite 11 his offer list may be "blowing up" a little from what it is but at this stage in the 2016 recruiting cycle when most classes are nearly already filled even then it wouldn't be substantial. Bottom line...recruiting is a game and not an exact science.
