The only people who said Russo isn't a fit, for the O we plan to install, are on this board. Ash on the other hand has flat-out stated, several times, that he "doesn't need a running qb to run a spread..." FWIW.
I only watched the first 5 minutes of the highlight video but you guys do realize that a large majority of those plays are from a spread offense, right?
I don't think Russo will have any problem making passing reads out of a 2015 Houston offense (if that is the proxy for 2016 RU offense). Keep in mind, what makes that offense work is that the D has to account for QB isolation plays in which the QB runs. That occupies the attention of safety or a LB. If you don't have a QB that can stress the D with the possibility of a run, the passing game it won't be as effective as it can be. Can Russo effectively run every so often? We'll see.

All I can say is, Russo has the talent to step right in,but I hope our new offense can free up space as well as this HS team does. Time will tell who if any of our QB's impress Ash enough to win the job outright by September. I don't think he will be like Fudd and be so stubborn and refuse to admit a change MIGHT be needed.
