Any word on Sean Samuels' Visit ?

If he's a preferred walk-on for football, would he be eligible to receive other kinds of financial aid not related to athletic scholarships. If both Navy and Army wanted him, he must be a good student who would be worthy of scholarships based upon academic merit. It would be a shame, and to me, unfair, if he was denied any of those simply because he intends to play football here.

"Samuels believed his Navy experience would place a larger emphasis on football when he picked to play for the service academy. But he soon found out the biggest priority was his military acclimation."

How do you not realize this?

Coaches recruiting for the Academies - are focused on recruiting for their sport - and they have a sales pitch - and not surprisingly - the Coach's sales pitch tends to emphasize what your four years of playing your sport & representing the Academy will look like - it will be glorious - and - what an outstanding education you will get - and sometimes .... the sales pitch might just gloss over some of the robust details related to the amount of your time that will be invested in the military activities ...

This is especially possible if the coach - or assistant coach doing the recruiting - is not an Academy grad & is somebody pursuing their career in the coaching of their chosen sport and happens to be moving up through the coaching ranks & is spending a few years at the academy building experience as a coach.... and is being judged on the caliber of athletes that they can bring in .

Yes - you should know what you are getting into - but sometimes a 17 year old can miss the details / develop a skewed impression when they are hearing a great story.
