Good for him and all, but damn.. when is it going to be Rutgers' turn?

You have to consistently buy in defensively....also cant let the jitterbug from UMBC, blow by you in half court for a layup....basketball is on BOTH ends of the court.

Nigel plays losing basketball. It was addition by subtraction losing him

Nigel plays losing basketball? So we would have done worse than 3-15 in league with him? Yikes.

I try not to care much about transfers, but I've always rooted against them whether it was Billett or Jones or Seagars (sp?), but I never even thought about this guy for a minute until they happened to mention he played a year at Rutgers. Not even on the radar.

Maybe we win 4 games? Maybe we win 2? Point is he wouldnt have madw a difference and in turn geo wouldve played less. We now have geo as a seasoned vet for next year and we didnt have to have our players around a cancer shit attitude like nigel

No disrespect to Nigel Johnson, I’m sure he’s a great guy but it’s been discussed numerous times why he’s not here. Let’s just say someone who’s name rhymes with Beo Gaker was going to push him for his starting job and Nigel didn’t handle it as well as Mike Williams

kinda indifferent on this one -

He attended Kansas State from 2013-15

He graduated - He earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers -2017 - but still had one more year of athletic eligibility

He is not a lottery choice - or even realistically going to play in the NBA - is not going to go and build a mountain of gold via a basketball career anywhere - he is eventually going to pay his mortgage by pursuing a more conventual career.

His home town is Ashburn, Va. - his mother & father (Sidney and Catrice Johnson) and his three siblings all live there.

Realistically, he could have been a piece of the puzzle for RU for one more year - but NOT really some vital - gotta have him on the floor for max time possible - essential element - he could have contributed - but ... not monumentally.

He could have packed up his playing shoes & moved on to just full time grad school - but he had a chance to play back home - and work towards his master’s degree in higher education at UVa - and realistically - had a huge opportunity to build some very valuable networking opportunities & visibility back in his home state.

hard to get genuinely bitter about this one

Nigel's time as a college player is over.
Scored 9 points in 24 minutes with 4-10 (1-3 from 3) with 1 rebound and 1 steal during the UMBC loss.

Since he went home to finish out his college career I'll hold no grudge for him leaving Rutgers . It's not like he would have made RU into a NCAA or NIT qualifier if he stayed.
