APP article -10 candidates to join Ash's staff at RU

I like the name of that potential DC/LB Coach.........Roc Bellantoni

a New York guy

"Locksley has been through New Jersey recruiting for Maryland and Illinois and..."

well done...? I mean maybe he nailed his one 2 star recruit this year, but this doesn't seem like something you should include in your resume or even as a reason to consider you for a position in that state.

syracuse fans thought acosta did a bang up job.... every NJ recruit he pulled in was wanted by RU, or so they thought...they believed he established a decent pipeline.

I think the staff he puts together will reflect on how ready he is to be a head coach. If he selects one of his ex-higher-coaches or too many local guys, I'll wonder if he's really up to the task of taking this program on. My hope is he takes guys he just knows that are young and good.

I think any coach with Jersey roots will be intrigued by Ash and his potential to do some very good things at Rutgers....they may just want to be part of it.....Acosta may be a great Hudson County recruiter for Rutgers, which includes St. Peters Prep.

Noone wants to see the same old guys recruiting for syracuse one day and rutgers the next. If you're going to hire a guy from out of the area mostly, I'd rather see some new guys to kind of put a local face on that change.

Remember when Schiano hired his old high school coach?

Donofrio will never touch Rutgers again. Even if he didn't leave in such an unscrupulous way, Ash wouldn't give him a first look. Ash employs a 4-3 highly aggressive scheme. The exact opposite of what that scoundrel employs.

If successful here, expect a lot of assistant turnover. It happened under Schiano as bigger programs could both weaken Rutgers recruiting and get a good assistant coach at the same time. I just hope we can hold onto a good OC and DC for enough years to make a difference.. like 3-4 years working the same system and tweaking it. I'd love to see a team half-filled with 4th and 5th years seniors who had the same head coach and OC and DC for there time here.
