Army - Navy

Really feeling navy's unis and helmets.
The helmets are really sweet. Each position group has a different type of ship and they're all handpainted. Army has the infantry division logos on their helmets. Will see them better in the 2nd and 4th quarters.

A great half of football, Army up by 3 at half. Go Army! Break the streak.

Great Game.

czxqa - By the way, those are not Infantry Divisions on the Helmets. They are Branches of the Army. They have Division patches on the uni's.

They're not all angels, but as someone who has been around awhile, the young men and women in the service academies give me hope for the future.

Good game, the streak continues. GO NAVY!!!!!

Army represented well, tip of the hat

Typical Army follies do them in again. They make some great plays but can't make chipshot kicks and snap the ball in 4th Q. As someone who sees a lot of Army games I can say 90% of Army trick plays end-up in disaster. You have to know what your team can do and that gimmick play was well outside of Army's ability. I'm sure it worked in practice

Reminded me of the Ron Prince trick plays that resulted 50% of the time in turnovers. Great game I wished they would have taken more time to explain the Army helmet- the stripe up the middle- was that Unit numbers or ames- I could not tell.

Everyone should go to that game at least once. The atmosphere is one of a kind.

The stripe up the middle was the branches motto if I'm not mistaken. So the infantry helmet had their motto. The artillery helmet had there's. And so on

Munken said he called the play because on a previous play he noticed Navy left the area open and unguarded. A blown coverage perhaps. The thrower (a WR) was supposed to tuck and run if the play wasn't there. The player isn't used to making such judgements and throws back across the field into coverage anyway. Elway probably doesn't try that throw.

The page linked below explains some of the branches and patches and why certain players wore certain things. A fun game to go to is one that happens at USMA during fall branch week (when seniors/Firsties pick the branch they want after graduation). That's when they get a lot of hardware delivered (Patriot launchers, tanks, artillery, landing craft etc) to put out on display around the post.

Stripe up the helmet said "Follow Me Queen of Battle, Follow me"

It's a line from an Airborne Infantry Cadence called "O Hail O Infantry"
