He said this after the press conference:

"I know several coaches here in the state. This has not ever been my primary recruiting area. At Ohio State, we are more honestly into positional recruiting. So you travel around the country recruiting the players at your position. But I have relationships with coaches here in the state. I know the schools to go to that typically year after year have some of the best players. To me, I have been able to walk into schools and homes clear across the nation, west coast, south east. I don’t think you have to necessarily know coaches from this state or this region to be able to go and recruit. What do coaches want? They want a first-class place to send their players to. They want to know they are going to be taken care of, they are going to be developed, they are going to get a degree and all the things that comes with a first-class organization.”

Ash also believes New Jersey to be very fertile recruiting grounds.

“Absolutely, I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t. That was the most appealing thing about [Rutgers]. It’s got an unbelieveable ceiling of potential here because of the talent that surrounds it.
