Been watching a little of this Wisconsin/NW game and seeing lots of missed holds like we normally do, nothing new there.

But just now Wisconsin had a punt return called back. The punt returner used both his arms down low waving his team away from the bouncing ball. He ends up picking it up and returning it for a TD. Refs call it back saying it was an invalid fair catch signal? What? Then how do you wave your team off from touching the ball? It was very clear what he was doing and not even close to being mistaken for a fair catch signal.

Awful call IMHO. I love B1G officials - they let you play the game - but this isn't a hold on the other side of the field, or a "touch" on a 40-yard pass both guys are going up for, this was about as obvious as it gets and they completely blew it. Weird.

I'm finding the B1G officials are just as awful as the AAC and BE officials. They don't seem to me any better than the ones we experienced before. Living out in California I see a lot of PAC 12 games and their officials are atrocious too.

Today's Michigan-PSU may have been the worst officiated game in recent memory. Michigan won despite the hosing. Harbaugh was rightly apoplectic throughout.

Haha, yea I saw the one where they called PI and to me it was no call or offensive PI and then of course Harbaugh starts doing the striptease hat, headset, coat...lol.

They're 100x better than AAC/BE officials, IMHO, because they LET THEM PLAY the game.

Since you are shouting I feel compelled to respond. Get an unedited tape of the Michigan game today and tell us again how they let them play. They really aren't that much of an improvement.

I'm not shouting, I'm "emphasizing," and yeah I'll get right to on it so make sure to be waiting.

The refs are doing everything to take this game from Wisconsin. I thought he had control all the way through the fall. Just a switch of hands.

These refs are morons, they ruled a sack an incomplete pass. Then after they don't even moved the ball back to the 1 yd line. These officials are the biggest idiots. They make the Duke/Miami guys look like geniuses.

Oh there was a spike somewhere in the middle by someone other than the qb which didn't even look like everyone was lined up to me but okay.

The last play looked like pass interference. He had his armed wrapped around them. Man Wisconsin was robbed by the refs a few times.

Well I'm gonna eat *thismuch* crow for now as there is no way in hell that 2nd TD call should have been reversed and, as the previous poster points out that COULD have been a PI call.

I don't even think that was a COULD, he had his armed wrapped around his back, it wasn't one of those close ones IMO. I have no dog in the fight, I'm not a fan of either team but I think Wisconsin was hosed.

I'm still shocked that TD was overturned. I'd bet that 999 out of 1000 times that a pass has been caught in the end zone as such, in college football, it's been a TD.

Yea they said movement, I didn't see any. At most I saw was change of securing it from one hand to the other but the ball was always lodged against the body with either hand.

And Michigan State should be undefeated. The lousy call where they said the Nebraska player was forced out if bounds and gave the ok for him to return and catch a pass was totally incorrrct. The MSU db played it the way every coach wants his db's to play. You keep the offensive player between you and the sideline where the sideline becomes your advantage.

You're not allowed to wave your hands around back there and then advance the ball. It was the correct call. NU has used that signal many times this year to wave teammates off the ball, but you do not advance the ball afterward.

Yup it looks like that was the right call. It's obvious what he's doing but technically that's the rule. So then basically you make any sort of movement with your arms and that's it you can't advance the ball.

Valid Signal

ARTICLE 2. A valid signal is a signal given by a player of Team B who has obviously signaled his intention by extending one hand only clearly above his head and waving that hand from side to side of his body more than once.

Invalid Signal

ARTICLE 3. An invalid signal is any waving signal by a player of Team B that does not meet the requirements of Article 2 (above.)

After an invalid signal, the play is dead when possessed but the receiver does not get protection.

:::emphasis added::::

If the play was dead pn the invalid signal, why di NW try to tackle the returner- why was the whistle not blown, and why was no flag ever thrown. if the play was dead. The other play on the TD catch the wR took 5 steps and was knocked out of bounds and the ball shifted from his hands to being trapped on his legs and body. Still confused by that one.

Ohio State got called for holding for the first time in YEARS against TTFP. B1G officials are better the BE....not an accomplishment what so ever
