B1G shut out

ACC is probably the strongest hoops conference despite the Big12 hype. ACC knew what it was doing when it raided the old Big East. It's no coincidence that the top half of their conference includes Cuse, Miami, ND, Pitt and Louisville. Take away those teams and all you have is Duke, UNC and VA.

Not even close and the one thing I miss from old Big East. ACC in hoops miles ahead.

They certainly did. This year's showing in the tournament is exactly why they raided the BE. In 2011, when the BE got 11 teams in and UConn won the championship, the ACC realized that their football raid of the BE had indirectly created a 16 team BE basketball behemoth that was squeezing out the mediocre teams in their conference that used to get the benefit of the doubt from the ESPN spin machine.

I made the comment how impressive it was they got 6 into the sweet sixteen and somebody was taking issue with who they beat. Cmon there were plenty of higher seeded teams upset in the early rounds and the ACC avoided that by winning the games they were supposed to win. Two head to head matchups in the elite eight limit them to two in the final four.

Wisconsin fumbled it away vs ND. No excuse for Mich St losing in 1st round, liked them to beat Sallycuse for Sweet 16, had them beating UVa for my Final 4 bracket (probably would've been wrong-UVA is heckuva team). Big10 sorta shot itself in the foot, but ACC is the best in hoops.

I hate to say it now that RU is B1G, but this has been going on for years. B1G almost always underperforms in the tournament.

The ACC will always have the advantage over the B1G in mens basketball because of the number of elite teams,ie, Duke, North Carolina,Louisville and Syracuse plus the second level with teams like Virginia,Pitt , Miami ,and Notre Dame. There is simply too much quality depth as compared to the BIG which clearly is more football focused.

Come on guys jeez. Bad year no doubt but big has been winning or tying most big/ACc challenges every year.

What a pain in the butt playing ND not only do you need to beat them, but you need to overcome the zebra's as well, they practically mug Nigel Hayes on the inbounds pass then Colson delivers a forearm shiver to his chest that knocks him to the floor as he tries to retrieve the ball, Result: two points for ND you can't make this crap up.

LOL. The refs were pretty fair all game and let the teams play. There were a few plays down the stretch where a ND shooter got mugged with no call............. and then on two key Wiscy baskets under 10 minutes, they refs let two clear travels by Wisconsin go. One guy was standing in the paint and was literally shuffling both his feet.

2 games in a row the officiating helped ND in the last 1:30. N question whatsoever, HOWEVER, Wiscy didn't exactly help themselves either.

That being said the ACC has had more than their share of lousy NCAA tourneys. Its going to happen when you get 6+ teams in most years.

I realize that ruman, but a Wisconsin team that I thought was not that good almost got to Final eight.

Wisconsin made it to the last two final fours and lost in the finals last year, so I'm not ready to bury the Big Ten by any stretch.

Huh?? Not sure how u can make this argument.

Since 2000, B1G has most Final Four appearances by any conference.

Excuse me, but that is clearly a foul anywhere, anytime -- especially when it leads to a game ending turnover with 5 seconds left in a 3 point game.

Especially when Cuse cheats / picks their own punishment....and UNC cheats and the NCAA is comatose.

I believe I touched a nerve? I would rather the conference slides a little . It will make it easier for Pikiell to catch up.? :cool2:

Last year the B1G had two in the Final Four and this year won the B1G-ACC challenge, I believe for the second year in a row. Last year it was with RU's help but this year the B1G without us winning. Had RU made its last second shot against WF, the B1G would have won it 9-5.

Nigel Hayes was VERY unimpressive in the tournament. Defense and effort was a big problem. I see lineups Wisconsin could put on the floor without him being as good as ones with him.

LOL, other than the blatant ND fan, seems to be a general agreement there were some terrible non calls in the last 30 seconds of the game clearly favoring ND. Nigel Hayes need to be stronger with the ball, and not anticipate getting a call from the mugging, have to agree he underperformed on the big stage he has the ability and talent to do more.
