Baseball rankings coming out

SEC baseball looks almost as impressive as Big Ten wrestling. They've got #1 and #2, 3 of the top 5, 4 of the top 10, 7 of the top 20, and 8 of the top 25.

I'm surprised there are only three Pac-12 teams (only one in the top 20), given the whole California/West Coast baseball reputation. Although CS Fullerton is ranked, as usual.

My buddy, who I grew up with in NJ but who has lived in CA for the past 25 years and coaches youth baseball, claims CA is the hotbed of Little League, youth and high school baseball. He says CA is for youth baseball what Texas and Florida are for youth football. I wonder if that's accurate. It seems like it's the South and Texas for baseball to me.

Baseball is bigger in California than any other sport. You don't hear or see as much of them because there are a zillion schools in California that they go to play their college ball at. All the Pac 12 schools get their kids there as well as a lot of Big 12 schools.
