After the Bill-Chiefs insta-classic, I was thinking about the great playoff games over the years. I'll exclude wild card weekend games.

Not ranked, and as I'm Googling up the great games, many are omitted because I Just don't ever muster an emotional interest for teams like the Rams, Titans or Panthers.

'82 Chargers-Dolphins
'82 Cowboys-49ers (The Catch)
2002 Raiders-Patriots (Tuck Rule)
Super Bowl Patriots-Giants (Both games)
1989 Super Bowl Bengals-49ers (Hey, there's John Candy)
2015 Super Bowl Patriots-Seahawks
1986 and 87 AFC Championship Games - Browns-Broncos (The Drive and The Fumble)
1968 Super Bowl - Jets-Colts (The Guarantee and it's been pretty much all downhill for the Jets since then)
1989 Giants-49ers (No three-peat)

I like games with defense and the 49er V Giants in 1990 was epic game with hard hitting and down-to-the-wire play

Parcells has called it his fav game

There was also the epic Bills comeback vs the oilers

My favorite Giants game of all time. Even more than the “18-1” and “wide right” super bowl victories. It was a glorious Monday in school the following day as all of the front running 49er fans ran and hid with their tails between their legs after talking lots of smack. I guess it just means more to you at that age.

First game that popped into my head was 1981/1982's "Epic in Miami" between the Dolphins and the Chargers.

That's year's Cowboy/49ers game ( "The Catch" ) deserves a mention as well. You realize the 49ers turned the ball over 6 times in that game ? Gotta be some kind of record, "Most turnovers in a playoff game and still win"

Giants/49ers - 1990/1991 - Giants won a defensive struggle, 15-13. Great game.

Super Bowls: Giants/Bills, Giants/Pats(2), Patriots/Rams, Broncos/Packers & Titans/Rams all come to mind.

Good thread . There are a lot of good playoff games out there
2008 - giants-packers nfc championship
2007 - colts-pats . Colts made a huge comeback to finally get over the hump
2004 - 49ers - giants - trey junkin game
2018- Vikings -saints / Vikings walk off win

This past weekend was one of the best for playoff football that I can remember, the games were incredibly competitive and they all basically came down to the last play. There have been some topics lately criticizing some of the NFL games. This past weekend was off the charts.

The games were exciting but both games end game D was absolute trash. Garbage football. Why don’t teams pretend the whole game is an “endgame” situation and have the scores be 96-90. Also in the playoffs both teams have to touch the football.

Colts-Raiders in the mid 70s was pretty good. Pretty sure it went to OT.

The game is on YouTube. Weird to watch it with the war news breaking in

1974 Dolphins vs. Raiders - Stabler getting tackled and hitting Clarence Davis in the endzone, still haven't gotten over that one!

Also, the immaculate reception in 1972
I forgot the Immaculate was a playoff game. I was too small to care about football but I remember watching the end since the game was on at home. A few years later I really liked those Steeler vs Oilers playoff games. Bum Phillips and Earl Campbell made for some great dust-ups

That was a heavyweight fight.

A true title bout.

As the kick went through I looked over at my Dad and said “I don’t know about you but I’m going (to the Super Bowl).”

So many 49er fans bailed on their already planned trip to Tampa that my Dad was able to get us the same package that included tickets, hotel, pre and post game tailgate and a side trip to Disney or Universal Studios, since the tour company had us staying in Orlando.

I was at a raucous bar in San Francisco for that game (Pat O'Shea's Mad Hatter on Geary in the Richmond District). I think everyone was pretty much convinced the Niners were going to win yet again, but a silence came over the crowd when Marshall knocked Joe Montana out of the game (except me and about two or three other Giants fans). That was an incredibly great day.

I just re-watched the ending there . I love John Madden but his take on the last giants drive was ons of a buffoon. He was saying the giants should throw the ball and go for a touchdown even when they were within range for bahr . In today’s day , he would have been roasted on social media for being completely wrong and may have never lived it down.
Madden also had a similar bad take at the end of the rams-pats first super bowl
