We could be in for a long season wins wise as the teams on our schedule have improved. However we also have improved overall and appear to be headed in the right direction. Everyone thought we were doomed when our secondary became depleted however our young guns are quick learners on the fly. Sure the number 4 team and projected projected first round QB completed some clutch passes.....but few if any were uncontested.....all were great throws where the receiver was only one going to catch them......and the yards after catch were held relatively low.
Our Dline appears to be getting healthy and positions appear settled which will allow Rossi to stunt and add blitz packages. This along with the additional size we've added makes the future bright on the Dline.
Linebacker play has been solid and although we may be thin here due to injuries the recruiting class at Linebacker may be its strength
Offensively we are steady.....I wish I could say explosive but cannot. QB play is solid although possibly limited (even his long TD throw Caroo had to come back to......I know some will say purposely...but I don't believe at the goal line you would throw it behind. Here you would throw it through as the only defender behind is the back line.)
Running Back is solid Would like to see James get more carries Especially in second half when defenses might be a bit gassed. Love how we have found that niche for Goodwin who has proved and earned that playing time.Hicks and Martin will get better as the OLine does
The OLine needs to be more consistent. Without calling anyone out let's just say too many missed assignments and pickups. Getting bigger and stronger and more talented.....just have to be smarter and more efficient.
Special teams have been solid. Punting has been solid along with coverage. Kicking has been consistent also along with coverage. Return teams have also looked good.
Coaching I'm sure will have mixed emotions I feel that every aspect of our teams has improved (or worse case remained status quo despite player change) which to me indicates that our system.....our continuity in coaching......and our coaches themselves are all working. They are successful.
So see we may be a better team overall Not get blown out at all but end up winning less games. However if I am correct in this analysis then the future really is getting brighter.
