Brian Gregory to South Florida

I always thought the place had potential if they got the right coach. Especially back in the old Big East days. Never understood why they couldn't get it done. Beautiful weather, facilities look decent, great conference (in the Big East days). Admittedly, I don't know a lot about the school itself, but I thought they had a lot to sell to recruits and should be able to recruit nationally.

Didn't do anything at GTech, especially when you see what Pastner has done in 1 year[/QUOTPastner didn't do that great either. Sure they pulled some upsets but the bottom line is they finished just over .500 and in the NIT with probably many of the the same players that Gregory went 21-15 with in his last year there.

Pastner didn't do all that great either. Sure they pulled off some upsets but the bottom line is they finished JUST over .500 and in the NIT with probably many of the same players they went 21-15 with in Gregory's last year at Tech.

Preseason #14 in the ACC poll. Beat UNC, Notre Dame, and Florida State on the way to an 8-10 conference record, and oh yeah: ACC coach of the year.

Other than that, Pastner didn't do much.

Edited to correct from Louisville to FSU.

Voted Coach of the Year in the ACC----beat UNC a 1 seed-----FSU a 3 seed and Notre Dame a 5 seed. Team is going to NIT.

A job well done IMO-----and they'll get better.

Yes we all know about coaches winning conference coach of the year here at RU don't we. Gregory is a quality coach.

Definitely did not win often enough.

Gregory had an APR mess to fix at Georgia Tech. They had been docked a few scholarships and he was expected to improve the APR that when he was hired...which he did. I think they had three straight years of scoring a perfect 1,000, largely due to the type of kids he recruited. He also didn't win much in the ACC, largely due to the type of kids he recruited.

USF has an academic mess to clean up. This has a great deal to do with why Gregory was hired.
