Brian Leonard + 5 others to be inducted into Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame

Nobody deserves it more then BL imho. J J Jennings was my all time
Favorite player as a kid but BL is my adult favorite and always will be not just because of the fantastic player he was on the field but the class act he is off the field. Well deserved #23.

I remember watching Mike wrestle back in my days on the banks. One of the best I ever saw at 137.

Happy for everyone, but cool to see Julie Culley get this honor - used to hang out with her back in the day.

My favorite Brian Leonard memory is from the Louisville game in 2006. 4th quarter, game tied, 2:20 left to play, Rutgers had 3rd and 6 from their own 35. Brian caught a screen pass and ran down the sideline for a 26-yard gain. Ray Rice then had a nice 20-yard run up the middle to set up Ito.

Game recap here:

and another here:

Congrats to Brian L and Bob Reasso - two great guys. Bob won a DIII championship in M Soccer last year and is in the process of moving his team up to DII.

We're on the march with Bobby's army
We're all gonna win the league.
Cause we really rough em up
When we win the Big East cup.
Cause Rutgers has the greatest soccer team!

Yea, we stole it from Everton, but I loved leading chants at soccer games in the late 90s.

Great to see Leonard and Cappie make it. Leonard had so many firsts, but my favorite "thing" might've been his decision to come back as a senior, making 2006 possible.

Also great to see Reasso make it. I became friends with him in the late 70s, as he was in college, but dated my older sister's best friend (they were seniors in HS). Our house was the "party house" back then and he used to come to the parties, but he didn't smoke or drink much, being an athlete, so we'd throw the frisbee around or shoot hoops in our backyard (I was about 16 back then). Nice guy and years later, when I found out he was the soccer coach at RU, I'd come to a few games a year and say hello. We came so close under him...

2006 - we got robbed at WVU. fumble.. interference on that 2 point conversion.. robbed... and still, if not for that dropped TD pass.. we would have beat them, played in a BCS Bowl (and WON) and ended the season top 10. (yes, I have blocked out that Cinci game where their DBs interfered every down until they intercepted a pass)

I'm with you concerning Jennings and Leonard.

Excellent well-deserved class. We want all former RU greats from all sports to have reasons to come back and be lifetime honorees. Thanks for posting.

I went to high school with Julie Culley, though I was a couple of years ahead of her. I always remember her being down to earth and a great person. It's great to see her get this honor.

Yes, this might be the most impressive RU HOF class that I can recall.
