How do you not air the lax tournament in favor of a spring game??? Don’t they figure these things out beforehand and own the broadcasts? Why not manage the schedule

Small time there.

Ok - end rant.

I’m willing to bet that spring football games get better ratings than lacrosse quarterfinal/play-in games each and every time. It sucks, I came home from my office early today thinking the games would be on regular BTN, but it is what it is, unfortunately.

Maybe if it were the Alabama spring game. Maryland fans barely care about Maryland’s spring game. Literally zero non-Maryland fans give a single shit about their spring game.

Kind of pathetic that we have our own network and playoff games are not even televised, yet ESPN managed to televise a regular season finale for the Ivy League and of course will show the ACC season finales tomorrow.

Even if you buy that the Maryland spring game is a bigger draw (spoiler alert: it’s not) makes no sense that the network did not coordinate with the league to a) schedule the games at a time when it could be televised, and b) NOT play then at the same time. Play the games on Sunday if necessary. Hard to believe they could not find a way to work this out.

ESPN has no incentive other than money when setting their programming and they are going all-in on lax, yet our league tournament is not televised by our own network. It’s a fail by the BTN and league, period.

If the spring game was shown on BTN would the same game on BTN2 and BTN3 also get higher ratings than the lax games?

I have no problem with prioritizing spring game football. The Big Ten is a football conference first - someone mentioned earlier they should be coordinating the schedule so they can air end of season tournament play- especially among the league’s two biggest teams playing a rivalry game.

It’s especially bad since both quarterfinals were televised last year. Make the lacrosse games later in the day. Put one on Friday or Sunday. It could’ve been worked out.
Yeah, I mean there’s 10 hours on a Saturday to televise live events (12 noon to 10pm). Certainly BTN could’ve squeezed in the two lax games (2 hours apiece) and the Maryland spring game (2 hours).

I guess they really wanted to show another episode of Big Ten Eats instead…

They should turn these broadcasts over to the school tv stations (presume they aren’t already).
