Bullock

Everything I hear about him points to a glue, foundation type of player.

FIG...looks like that type of guy every team needs, tough and will run through a brick wall to help the team. My guess, he will lead the team in charge calls and diving on the court for loose balls... I know you love that stuff......lol

If true, great move by Pikiell to keep that Roselle Catholic connection going with Coach Boff by taking one his under the radar kids.

I hope this is true. I was the first guy who praised his play a few months ago and was ripped by several guys on this site that we did not need a 6'4" guy that we needed bigger guys. I explained how tough and strong he is and how he can jump with anyone and can back down other players as well as shoot the three. Several guys said he only had mid major offers and made fun of that. I see a lot of games and was also the guy who said we should have signed Otis Livingston last year. I recommended that Eddie should watch him last year. Well this year Eddie did tell me it was the biggest mistake that he and his staff made last year was their not signing Otis after he was the best player for George Mason in their scrimmage vs. RU. I think it worked out best for Otis as he led George Mason in minutes played this season and averaged 11.5 points per game. He would never have played that many minutes for us because Corey was our PG. If we do add Bullock we certainly will add some toughness as he doesn't back down from anyone. I have watched him play many times over the last 4 years.

He may not be a star, but he's a tough local kid who will make his presence felt on the floor. Watch for him to become a fan favorite.

If this is true, it's a home run for Rutgers. He played varsity for four years at a top program, and started most of those games. He knows what it takes to win. Barrel-chested, he'll find a way to defend and to rebound. Don't worry about his size. Villanova has a forward, Kris Jenkins, who has recently emerged as a star...he's a Barkley-esque 6'4". And he gets his rebounds and has no problems guarding PFs.

Bullock is a winner. Rutgers needs that.

Although he's an inch or two shorter, Bullock reminds me of former BC standout Danya Abrams. Like Abrams, Bullock is tough as nails and cannot be intimidated on the court.

Abrams was a beast. If that is any kind of comparison for Bullock, this is fantastic news.

If true it will be a welcome sign to finally get a Jersey guy. Tavon Jones of Linden is outstanding too and just finished his sophomore year. St. Joe's of Philly already offered him about 6-8 weeks ago. I recommended him to Eddie in January and hope that RU keeps tabs on him. He is about 6'2" as a SG and might grow some more. He also can rebound for a guard and can shoot the three. He hit five threes in one game this year against Roselle Catholic. I think he will make one of the All State teams in The Ledger within probably the next 10 days or so.

I too am wondering who the other silent verbal is? Is there any idea when both will be officially announced. I know Shell21 said that Bullock would be announced on Tuesday. Maybe Roselle Catholic is closed until that day.

Finally, an insider with a non-cryptic post. Thank you!
I'm not really a big insider, just a high school bball coach in jersey so occassionally will hear some things around the circuit and have a few people I know with connections to some of the bigger programs. This tidbit I heard last night.

Art, what's his first name, and for what basketball year?

My team plays in the linden summer league and we played against Jones this year..He's a very good player with a lot of upside and only a sophomore so skies the limit. I will try to get some info on his recruitment this summer since I'll be there two times a week and talk to their coaches.

Tavon is his first name. He just completed his sophomore year in the Tournament of Champions on Monday against St. Anthony's where he scored 12 points. He hit five threes against Roselle Catholic at Roselle catholic on February 2. He scored 470 points in 30 games this season for 15.7 ppg.

Hawk,
Silent since hiring Pikiell? If so, that's very quick work!

I was thinking the exact same thing when I read your post. Very quick work by Pikiel if true. Certainly speaks to his ability and knowledge of recruiting the area.

Really happy with this!

Where are all the haters criticizing guys not in the rivals database and holding midmajor offers lol?

Bullock is a grinder and that is what RU needs. Lets hope that no one else sees his potential now and offers him.

He used sign language? [thumb2]:basketball:

It means he told us yes, but has not publicly announced it.

Thanks for the explanation. What's the downside of publicly announcing? Verbals are non binding. I've learned not to get too emotionally invested with regular verbals these days, soft verbals almost seems like why bother.
