Caleb McConnell - All Metro Player of the Week

Definitely deserving for sure but just getting healthy. Despite the layoff , his defense in the first game back was sensational despite being winded even though his offense was off. But next game against Miami he ratcheted up the defense and scored 16 including the tying 3 to make it 61-61 that I thought was going to get us over the top. It was Mag not Caleb that Miller hit those 2 big threes when they made their comeback as Mag had a momentary lapse and sagged and went under the screen. Also Pack hit the 3 on Cam. So overall Caleb made a huge impact. Now last game against Indiana he was terrific controlling and getting in Johnson’s head , controlled the backboards and hit the big 3 to get us back the lead for good early in the second half. His team defense and understanding the opponent ‘s plan of attack and he just totally neutralizes it , was at another level. He really has a chance now to be defensive player of the year if he locks down the opponent ‘s guards every game. Ecstatic to have him back.

He’s everywhere. Absolutely everywhere. Such great instincts for being where the ball is. My favorite part of “the block” was that his head was already turned around looking for the board before he even hit the ground.

He covers the best player on the other team and freelances at the same time. Smartest defensive player I can remember seeing play.

Caleb is a terrific guy and just happens to be one of the best defensive players in the entire country. His offensive game is really improving as well. We are so blessed that he returned for one more year. He is an all time Rutgers legend.

He was, at one time, a bit of an offensive liability, but those days are long gone. He is an RU legend, and we all love that he returned. Thank you brother! No one picks the other team's pocket like Caleb.
