Campanile Let Go

I have no problem with a total housecleaning. I am sure HCCA knows life will be easier with a couple of guys with some ties to the area and will fill the remaining slots on the staff accordingly.

glad the schiano/flood era is done with.

nothing against these guys but we needed to move on.

plus theres no chance of another "jason baum" with a clean house.

Reminds me of a recent blog I read by a USMA/Harvard grad (and NJ resident) who coaches youth football :

"What are the most common mistakes youth football coaches make?"

Every year, I hear coaches making the same mistakes. Drills that look very busy and footballish but which are a waste of time, too much standing around doing nothing in practice, not enough time spent on learning assignments for the next game, failing to scout your opponents, and many more. Study this list and make sure you spend your valuable practice time on useful stuff.

#1 - Having any assistant coaches who are not your brother, sister, son, father, spouse, or other close relative or longtime personal friend. About 95% of youth football head coaches make this mistake. If you have assistant coaches who played football in high school or college and who have kids on the team, most of them will argue endlessly with you about everything. The dissenters will often go against your instructions when your back is turned. Most will bad mouth you to their son and to the other parents on the team. If you miss a practice or game, these men will put in the systems and plays they want and abandon your approach while you are away. If you stand firm against some change they want, some will go to the board and try to get them to order you to do it your assistants’ way or to get you fired. Read my lips. No assistants who are not trusted relatives, proven in past coaching with you, or longtime close personal friends. See my coach staff size article. Most coaches seem to think this can’t be right. Some contact me after the season to say, “You were right. I wish I had listened to you.” Every year I hear from coaches whose main coaching problem is internal, adult politics. The best way I know to deal worth it is an ounce of prevention....

So hire a bunch of yes men who won't challenge or question your decisions? Sounds like a Flood move.
I have a long time partner at work

Behind closed doors we will fight like dogs, but once a decision is made, we stick to it - even if one of us does not agree

We will never break ranks to a client (or employee) -that shows weakness of leadership

Do you always agree with your friends and family members?

Yes men are dangerous

Learn from the Lion, clean out the den and start again.

Like both Camp and Panagos...

but I get it....hoping the staff fills out in a very positive way

Had/has to be done IMHO. A winning culture/atmosphere will keep the NFL connections moving right along.

So, EJ was the only guy on staff that had even a modicum of talent? Or, is he gone soon too?

We had a Dline that couldn't get a pass rush and a WR/TE group that couldn't get off the line. So I wouldn't think anyone would be surprised by this move.

Still employed. Him and Valone may be the only guys to keep their jobs, although I'm sure they are scrambling for a safer situation elsewhere. Tough spot to be in for these young guys, especially around the Holidays.

HOW about some local hires to put our minds to rest before dumping some popular guys....i wouldn't mind as much knowing someone local was on the job.....

So Ash should check with us on his personnel decisions?

who said that... sounds like only you.... it looks like he's doing it already as the board thought dumping Campy was OK....I just gave an opinion and YOU elaborated on it....why is your opinion any better than mine...who appointed you head fan. I think he'd be wise to check with me...i have 27 yrs of wisdom on him...he ain't proved nothing yet....Shea was supposed to be our great saviour once too..

I would have liked to keep Campi but I have to ask what did his local ties do for us? Maybe you should hold off "minding" until the last 6 coaches are hired?

who again said I minded....what i minded was someone thinking there opinion superceded my own...as i said the board seemed to agree with Ashs move and we'll soon see....for now Ash gets a pass..

correct....but don't INSIST...you cherry picked....even used parenthesis..how about adding ''as much''...I'm telling you we have some ''picayune'' fans who'd rather argue sematics over FB here rather than stick to the point..

Keep in mind that there may be many things that went into all of this - it may have been in their best interest to have been "let go" & trigger the separation package ... as opposed to sticking around in this situation & then having to just "walk away" to be able go to a new opportunity.

Is this even confirmed beyond a single tweet from DD? I've not seen it reported anywhere else yet...

The other aspect to an entire staff change, is that the players are pretty much starting off with a clean slate, and they have the opportunity to prove they deserve playing time.

Coach Ash will sink or swim with his personnel decisions and quite frankly that's the way it should be. I am sure he has an overall philosophy and direction and is well aware of the "local ties" issues both negative and positive. It will be interesting to see how he fills out his staff and watch as he implements his plan.

I don't see where Coach Camp had helped us make significant inroads in NJ high schools. So, I wish him well, but it's time to stop looking behind us.

If Coach Ash can complete a staff aligned with what he projects for RU (borrowing his words), then I think a staff of guys all pulling in the same direction will be a huge plus. I feel like many on Flood's staff may have been auditioning for other jobs; I don't know why, it just didn't seem like the coaches were on the same page.

Regardless, turning the page and moving forward.

Was thinking the same thing. We all know Duggan doesn't check the facts from BOTH sides of the story. No where else is this being reported and the DePaul Chatolic twitter account (although who knows who's running that) is claiming that Duggan is wrong.

Agree with a couple guys above...what did his ties get us?....absolutely nothing.
I may also question his WR responsibilities too....I wasn't thrilled with the play of our WRs not named Carroo.

Maybe the other wide receivers weren't as talented. There are playmakers in abundance at successful teams and complementary players which are in abundance at Rutgers.

Maybe you're right.
But don't you think we should have seen SOME kind of improvement in trying to get open by guys like Grant, Patton or Agudosi (sp)? ...I put that on coaching...whether OC or WR coach.

I'm sad to see camp go I had some classes with him when we were both undergrads. He seemed truly passionate about becoming a coach and I was looking forward to seeing him rise within the program. I feel the same way about Barthel as well.

While I understand the need to bring in Ash's own guys, a show of the slightest bit of respect to the prior regime, the program's alums, the current players, and the current recruiting relationships wouldn't kill anyone either. Just a different perspective to consider.

As New Jerseyans we often do not like people coming in and acting like they know everything I sure hope that isn't going to be the case here. Is this guy going to hire ANYONE with NJ ties or RU ties? Wouldn't you agree that is needed? This is what coaches PRE-GS did and well.. Look where we were before GS got here.

I'm sure Anthony will become a very very successful coach either on the hs or college level and will be rooting for him.

You were the one asking for local hires to put your mind to rest. He has said that he will have some guys with local ties. I can wait until all 9 are hired before complaining.

Good comment . Not only is coach camp an excellent coach, the guy is one of us. I want our team to represent the state and the people in it. I want the best nj coaches to want to coach here. I want the best players to want to play here. Camp turned down 1aa schollies to walk on here. Schiano loved him and brought him on as a grad assistant just before the flood regime began.. Since then he's been promoted every year and was even singled out by coach Wilson as the best coach on staff.
He was the OC at bosco during his last few years there and led a dominant team.
Campanile is the type of coach we need to breed in nj and have coaching at the state U. Anyway, I hope he wasn't let go
