Campanile who? Barthel who?

So glad we didn't retain the wr coach who couldn't provide us any depth outside of carroo. Or teach agudosi a wr position besides the x, requiring him to sit on the bench any time carroo was out on the field. Or get commits from any parochial school kids.

never understood... the NJ roots thing lol. Its football, these kids want quality coaches.

Barthél and Campanile might have done a better job of recruiting NJ HS talent if Flood could close the deal better.
Can't say if Anthony or EJ could have done a better job bringing in NJ HS talent with Ash as HC , but can't say they wouldn't have.
All I know is Rutgers wasn't bringing in the local talent and as the HC Flood is the one that should bare the blame.

I strongly suspect both gents would have thrived under the leadership and vision of Chris Ash, as long as they buy into it like the current staff.

Campanile and Barthel were not overlooked by Ash because of what they did or did not do well. When coaches are hired from outside the organization they rarely keep any of the old staff. If they do it is one key person. Other than that they bring in people they know and trust will implement their ideas. How Camp and Barth would have worked with Ash is pure speculation but Ash clearly had a plan when he got this job (see Hobbs' on his interview) and included in that was that he had an idea of who he wanted to be a part of his staff. The RU assistants under Flood were never a part of his plan.

I said it plenty of times. Barthel was brought here for one reason and one reason only. The class of 2016. He trained JG, Walker , and Rashan Gary at his gym and had personal relationships. Flood and staff thought it could be beneficial and it wasn't.

He wasn't the right man for the job and he simply was not a good recruiter. While I in no way blame him for not landing any top committs he just simply wasn't good nor was the right man for the job. It was forced.

We fired him. No reason to continue pummeling the guy.

The players in the program loved Flood. His failures in recruiting ultimately came down to what what obvious to casual observers. The guy just isn't an inspiring leader.

When you hear recruiting stories like what went down with the recruitment of New Brunswick's own Maurice Ffrench who grew up a Rutgers fan, or hear what Micah Clark had to say about the difference between the 2 staffs, you would quickly realize it's a lot more than being inspiring, it's about being competent.

Ash has the Ohio State cred and a vision that the kids are buying into. In addition, going to a spread offense has probably helped.

You need to chill.

Barthél was great and the kids really liked him.

But he is not the head coach.
The coach has to make you believe. The coach has to also close in recruiting.

No? Name one player he developed or one good player that came here because of his recruiting. Don't bother naming carroo cause carroo was NFL bound the second he walked on campus. I don't want to hear about how some h.s. coach was the mastermind behind his strength and athleticism when carroo was doing what he did from day 1.

If I feel like calling out the old staff, I will. Especially on the free board. It's martial law here.

Relax guy.

It is very simple....... The coaches don't have to be from NJ to appeal to recruits pride in NJ...... We previously might gave thought so, so far this staff has proven that long believed theory wrong.
