Can we be an "average" offense?

So kyk made this comment in his starter thread:

If the O is even average we bowl. I dont know if itll be average though, hope to be wrong.
I know you are not a fan of Wimsatt, but even if he's not great, can we not have an average offense with a great running game? To give you an example below is the stats of Teel in 2006:

154 for 296 (55% completion rate), 12 TD, 13 INTs

Can Wimsatt get to around 55% with equal amount of TDs as INTs? Even a little less? And still be fine with Brown and Young? And add a little of Wimsatt running, which we didn't have in 2006?

Now I know what people are going to say, we can have a great running game but it won't be Rice/Leonard great, and we can have a great defense but it won't be 2006 great. Both of that is true, but I'm not asking to go 10-2, I'm asking to go 6-6.

Why can't we roll with Wimsatt and that running game and win enough?
