Don't know where this started and by whom but it makes no sense at all. 95% of the plays are called from the sidelines. And if we are talking about checking off at the line of scrimmage then that's an entirely different story that relates to identifying defenses. Also how much of the playbook is needed each week for a game. A game plan is normally prepared each week for an opponent and the set of plays to be used are practiced during game week. This should be sufficient in most instances. It's not that complicated and overplayed.

This sort of reminds as me of situations where your child may be bright but the teacher is not getting the information across properly. I wonder if the same thing can be said about Gio, Dare or the other qb's that is rumored about Rettig. All I know is that when Hayden has played he's done a decent job and apparently has been able to execute the plays sent in by the staff. And if what is rumored may have some validity (which I doubt) then do what he knows and does best. What we see now on occasion on the field is not always working and it had nothing to do with knowledge of the playbook but with simple execution and perhaps poor play calling from the sidelines.

So lets put the playbook knowledge to rest and move forward! Execution is a more important item here. If we are unable to successfully complete a long pass when needed or called that is key to moving the football.
