Unfortunately if something does not change soon with the consistency of play and better coaching RU looks headed to a 7 loss non conference mark which would put them at 6-7 as long as they take care of the 3 corpses, FDU, Cen Conn St. and Lowell.

Now while I said this year is about getting better not wins and losses, you just cant justify 0-7 vs schools who are generally around the same talent level or a bit better perhaps.

RU is 0-4 vs SJU, Creighton, Clemson and Wake...all teams expected to be in the bottom half of their leagues. It was reasonable to think RU should have beaten 1 if not 2...you have to set some minimum bar here and SJU is an atrocious team.

GW and SHU up next and these are more talented teams than RU so that's why I am concerned. The games get harder to win as we go forward. Monmouth will be a favorite at the RAC and it will be their Super Bowl. Somehow RU must pull out a win here somewhere. I think the Wake game showed that they can compete with an okay team but its almost like groundhog day in you sense they will just fall apart as the good stretches are just fools gold.

Eddie will not be able to recruit off an 8 or 9 win season, it has nothing to do with facilities or Julie Hermann or Mike Rice. Those kind of records are brutal for recruits to see. Eddie has to find a way to get a positive going in this program. Seton Hall up next and Im looking for Eddie to offer up something more than we have been getting.

I agree with everything here. Seton Hall game is critical, but I'm not optimistic. I keep waiting for this team to surprise me and they never do. Monmouth will definitely be favored unless we surprise vs. GW and Seton Hall.

I'd like to win 1 of those remaining 3. Going 3-0 against the corspses is not a given.

As much as we want instant gratification, it is crucial Eddie manages the next 27 days with an eye to the future. Getting rest to sanders in both halves and not being afraid to see leads blown or deficits widen. Getting 15 minutes to Goode, Laurent, and Diallo (assuming they are playing hard and earn them). Don't be afraid to sit anyone for a lack of effort or refusing to do repeatedly what is being asked.

Last night with the insertion of Grier over Foreman and the rest of Sanders in both halves I saw potentially a clear change. With this and the contributions from Goode and Laurent I felt a bit better about things leaving the RAC,

True, Laurent and Goode were bright spots. Nice to see Goode lead in assists. We need to be patient with Laurent and take the good with the bad on some nights.

Guys, I have said in previous threads on a number of occations.
Sanders can play. Freeman is capable. Laurent will develop.
BUT!!!!!! Will the bigs catch and finish at the rim? Will the bigs offensive rebound and finish at the rim???
Dont look to Williams or Goode to turn into Steph Curry. It aint gonna happen. We will have to wait for our bigs to either develop or get recruited. Period.
Unless ofcourse Eddie recruits a 20+ scorer this spring.

As far as this year is concerned. Mistakes will be made in the End Game. The guys are young and new.
But free thows can be improved upon.
Dont bet on that getting much better this year.
But the games are fun again.

I'm fully expecting we will go 0-3 against these last three teams - then what?

Monmouth played and won at Pauley Pavilion. Why do you think beating a terrible RU team is their Super Bowl? In the grand scheme of things does it matter if we win 6,8 or 10 games? We are so far away from even being competitive.

we have been very competitive. In three of our four losses, at the 8 minute mark of the second half, we were ahead by close to double digits vs SJU and Wake, and only down three to a Creighton. We have collapsed in each of those games. You have to win games like the SJU and Wake games. Losing those, coupled with the league schedule, means you are in for a single digit win year - have no idea how you can move a program forward with those results.

Can we keep this group of players in tact for next year, without any defections? can we find more recruits that will contribute next year in the spring?

I think that says it a lot. This is a very young team. The talent is extremely front heavy. I'm not as worried about these meltdowns as some people are, because again, young team. I'm just enjoying actually ENJOYING a game, not just going raving nuts because it feels like they're clueless. Now I can go raving nuts because it feels like they're actually competing.

We'll see how IC goes.

Its so difficult finding silver linings for a basketball program that has lacked relevance for decades and the response from some fans is that the team is young.Well last seasons team wasn't young and we all know about the long losing streak to end the season.Sanders is a difference maker but when he drives and passes off to a open teammate the shot must go into the basket on a consistent basis which is not happening. Also ,missing foul shots is another example of a team with poor shooters. You would think daily practice would improve the percentages .

You have X amount of time to practice per day/week. Practicing foul shots is near the bottom of the list of things to do. It is on the players individually to do that.

As much as we want instant gratification

I have to laugh my ass off everytime I see a comment about Rutgers Basketball fans not being patient.

FIG, not criticizing you in any way, people do want instant gratification, but boy, RU basketball fans are the most patient on the face of the earth.
